2 years agoNeither Carolina Panthers quarterbacks Baker Mayfield (ankle) nor Sam Darnold (ankle) will play in Week 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but both have a chance to return next week at the Atlanta Falcons as long as there are no setbacks at practice, according to sources. Darnold remains on Injured Reserve, but he could be activated late next week if the team feels he's ready. The bigger question is who the Panthers would go with as the starter under center if they are both ready to go. Mayfield has underwhelmed in his first five games with the team, completing a career-low 59.9 percent of his 153 pass attempts for 962 yards, four touchdowns and four picks. P.J.
