Austin Riley Bumped Down To Fifth Spot In Lineup
2 years agoAtlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley has been moved from cleanup to the fifth spot in the batting order for Game 4 of the National League Division Series on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies and right-hander Noah Syndergaard. Riley hit third in Game 1 before hitting cleanup the last two games, but he'll be moved down to the five-hole for this one after picking up just one hit in 12 at-bats with an RBI, walk and four strikeouts in the first three games of the series. With the Braves hoping to avoid elimination on Saturday and force a Game 5 back in Atlanta, they'll go with catcher Travis d'Arnaud in the cleanup spot for Game 4. Riley was a first-time All-Star in 2022, hitting .273/.349/.528 with an .878 OPS, career-high 38 homers, 93 RBI, 90 runs and two stolen bases in 159 games, so the Braves really need him to get going.
