Austin Ekeler Misses Practice Wednesday
3 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler (hamstring) officially missed practice on Wednesday due to a hamstring injury. Instead, Ekeler worked off to the side with trainers. Ekeler is an RB1, especially in PPR leagues, but many fantasy managers want nothing to do with him after he missed six games in 2020 in his first season as the Chargers bell-cow back. If Ekeler is unable to play this weekend, the Chargers backfield would consist of some combination of Justin Jackson, Joshua Kelley and rookie Larry Rountree III. There are plenty of injury concerns with the small frame of Ekeler, but when healthy, he can at least serve as a low-end RB1 in PPR leagues. It's unclear how serious his hamstring issue is or if it could cause him to miss Week 1, but this is a situation to watch closely as the week unfolds.
