Aroldis Chapman 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Cheap Source For Double Digit Saves
Aroldis Chapman signed a one-year, $10.75 million contract with the Boston Red Sox this offseason. Chapman racked up 14 saves while posting a 3.79 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and 98 strikeouts over 61 2/3 innings for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2024. Turning 37 in February, the southpaw can still post elite strikeout totals, evidenced by his 37.1 K%, ranking in the 99 percentile per Baseball Savant. Chapman relied on four pitches (four-seamer, sinker, slider, and split-finger) to get batters out, with his sinker being used 27.2% of the time, topping out at 99.9 mph. The hard-throwing left-hander will likely split closing duties with Liam Hendriks in 2025. ATC projections are on board with Chapman delivering double-digit saves again this year and are projecting the southpaw with 12 saves, a 3.45 ERA, and a 1.32 WHIP over 60 innings. With a recent NFBC ADP of 325.89, Chapman is worth taking a flier on in the later rounds with the expectation of 10-15 saves and a WHIP hovering around 1.30 to go with elite strikeout totals.
