Antoine Winfield Jr. Standing Out For Buccaneers Defense
4 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers rookie safety Antoine Winfield Jr. has been working at both safety and nickel cornerback in training camp and has been impressing the coaching staff. "They say this guy acts unlike a rookie, in the way that he studies, the notes that he takes," NFL Network's James Palmer said. "You tell him something one time and he is back to doing it." NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah picked Winfield as a dark-horse Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate. The 22-year-old out of Minnesota was taken 45th overall in the second round and should help a secondary that really struggled a year ago. His ability to plan the run in the box or cover tight ends and running backs in space will be very valuable for head coach Bruce Arians' defense. Winfield is one of the reasons why the Buccaneers Defense could be fantasy relevant in 2020.
