Anthony DeSclafani Signs With Giants
4 years agoThe San Francisco Giants signed right-handed pitcher Anthony DeSclafani to a one-year deal worth $6 million on Wednesday, according to a source. According to president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi, the team will continue to look for another top-tier starting pitcher. DeSclafani struggled in 2020, going 1-2 with a 7.22 ERA in nine games (seven starts) over 33 2/3 innings. He missed all of 2017 with an elbow injury but has made at least 20 starts in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. The 30-year-old can make an extra $250,000 in performance bonuses based on innings pitched. DeSclafani will help fill a rotation void with Jeff Samardzija and Drew Smyly moving on.
