Andrew McCutchen Returns To Pirates
2 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates signed free-agent outfielder Andrew McCutchen to a one-year deal worth $5 million on Friday, according to a source. McCutchen spent the nine years of his big-league career in Pittsburgh and was an All-Star with them for five straight seasons from 2011-15. He won the National League MVP in 2013. The 36-year-old is far from his prime in his return to Pittsburgh, but he'll give the rebuilding Pirates some veteran leadership. McCutchen posted a career-low .700 OPS with the Milwaukee Brewers last season and shouldn't be expected to improve much toward the back end of his career. But for fantasy purposes, he'll be relevant in deep mixed leagues if he's playing every day.
