Alexander Mattison 2025 Fantasy Football Outlook: Probably The 4th-String RB For The Dolphins
Alexander Mattison was, for a time, the lead back in the most ineffective rushing offense in the NFL. He failed to eclipse 4.0 yards per carry, often being stuffed at the line of scrimmage, and though he was marginally effective as a receiver, got outplayed by 3rd-string back Ameer Abdullah in that area as well. In addition, it seemed like Mattison was on track to lose his job to Sincere McCormick, another RB buried on Vegas' depth chart in 2024, before McCormick went down with an injury. He joined a Miami roster with both backs De'Von Achane and Jaylen Wright, and that drafted Ollie Gordon in the 2025 NFL Draft. Mattison doesn't seem like he has a role in this offense. Even if there were injuries to multiple guys ahead of him on the depth chart, Mattison probably wouldn't be productive for fantasy in the leading role with all the carries. And he'd probably be hyper-ineffective, too. You'd be relying on the odd game with a bunch of check down targets going his way, and NFL offenses usually don't like to function that way. Mattison should be off of pretty much every radar in every fantasy football league this season.
