Alex Ovechkin Ends Longest Goal Drought Of His Career
12 months agoWashington Capitals left wing Alex Ovechkin finally found his way back among the goals on Thursday against the Blue Jackets, ending the longest goal drought of his career with a 3-2 overtime winner. Ovechkin went 14 games without a goal before breaking the barren spell with a power-play marker on Thursday inside the final minute of overtime. During his drought, he had 57 shots on goal without finding the back of the net. Ovechkin also grabbed a power-play assist in Thursday's contest to reach the 20-point mark in his 30th outing of the season. The second most prolific goal-scorer in NHL history has lit the lamp just six times this season, but Ovechkin's 5.2 shooting percentage has massive room for improvement, as he's been a 12.8 percent shooter over his career.
