Alex Bowman probably was not the Hendrick Motorsports car expected to finish the best on Sunday at Austin. However, Bowman found a way to get up front at the very end. He nearly pulled off an improbable win. However, he got caught in the middle of Ross Chastain and A.J. Allmendinger. In the end, a second-place finish was not a bad result. This was Bowman's second top-five and third top-ten of the 2022 season.
