Alcides Escobar Extends Hit Streak
7 years agoKansas City Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar has developed a bit of a pattern, and he extended it by hitting safely in his third straight game on Friday. This now means Escobar is entrenched in his fourth straight 3-game hit streak. Escobar has hit safely in three straight games four separate times over his last 15 games, scattering one hitless showing in every fourth game along the way. Such a streak wouldn’t necessarily impress for most hitters, but when Escobar’s only hitting .223 on the season, any streak is a boon. Friday was a big day for Escobar as well because he also walked for the first time in eight games and stolen his second base of the season. Escobar is nothing but a place-warmer for top prospect Adalberto Mondesi, but manager Ned Yost is nothing if not loyal, so expect Escobar to keep his job without a problem this season.
