7 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Aaron Sanchez (finger) made his return to the mound in spring action on Sunday, and he was able to throw his sinker in the upper-90s. Sanchez threw 22 pitches and consistently hit the mid-90s on the radar gun for the first time since July 19. While the right-hander's command was a bit off, there were no signs of the blister issues that limited him to just 36 innings last year. "I think my finger is in a good spot," Sanchez said. "There were no issues today. I didn't even hesitate, to look at it once, nothing on my fingers gave me discomfort. Everything I was trying to accomplish that way was good. The competitor in me wasn't happy with the other side. It's about finding a balance. I'll take today with a grain of salt and just move forward." While we'd like to see a bit more from Sanchez before declaring him all the way back, this was a good sign. If healthy, Sanchez could bounce back in a huge way after a breakout 2016 season when he had a 3.00 ERA in 192 innings.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
