Aaron Nola Not Listed As A Starter To Open Second Half
3 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola is not listed among the team's projected starting pitchers this weekend against the Miami Marlins to kick off the second half of the season. Matt Moore and Zach Eflin will pitch the two games of the doubleheader on Friday, respectively, with Vince Velasquez going on Saturday and Zack Wheeler pitching Sunday. Nola was put on the COVID-19 injured list last weekend, but it's still unclear if he actually tested positive. If he didn't test positive, there's a better chance that he could pitch at some point early next week. The 28-year-old has been a bit disappointing halfway through the season, and he struggled in his last two starts, giving up 11 earned runs and 15 hits in 10 2/3 innings to the Marlins and Chicago Cubs. However, he still has a very nice 29.5 percent strikeout rate and career-low 5.4 percent walk rate. If healthy, he should be better in the second half.
