Aaron Judge 2023 MLB Player Outlook: The Reigning MVP Enters Uncharted Territory
2 years agoEtched in the history books and one of the most prominent seasons by an individual player, New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge now represents the face of baseball. Providing his counting stats would simply be redundant, considering the frequency of times his stats have been mentioned. Regardless, what matters is the hardware that supplemented an iconic season. Evidently, the American League home run record was broken by yours truly. However, there is much more to it. Judge led the league in six categories, one being a 10.6 WAR. His .458 wOBA and 207 wRC+ both finished ahead of all major leaguers. Creating loud contact became typical for the reigning MVP, and he finished with a career-high %60.9 Hard Hit%. Albeit his raw power serves as one of the marquee attributes of his game (.375 ISO), Judge reinvigorated several other aspects. His wheels collected 16 swipes which validates a career-high 2.1 BsR. The Yankees clipped Judge to a monster nine-year, $360 million contract. His projections, according to Steamer, figure a .276/.383/.555 slash line with 44 dingers. While the likeliness of a 2022 repeat is quite improbable, the California native is presumed to perform at an MVP-caliber level in 2023. If you are privileged with a top pick in the draft, bank on some Judge! Although, surprisingly, Judge is going fifth in early drafts.
