NBA DFS: Top Daily Fantasy Expert Picks for DraftKings, FanDuel (5/8/25)

Anthony Edwards - NBA DFS Lineup Picks, Fantasy Basketball Rankings

Free daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for today's slate on DraftKings and FanDuel. Use Koby's NBA DFS expert picks to building winning DFS lineups on May 8, 2025.

Welcome back, RotoBallers! We are here with Game 2 between the Timberwolves and the Warriors. The Warriors have a one-game lead even with Stephen Curry leaving early. He will continue to be out for at least a week. The Warriors will lean on Jimmy Butler III and the crew to make it a two-game lead.

I will help you dive into the slate and hopefully bring in some more cash for the rest of the playoffs! This article will focus on the top guys to play at MVP, some flex guys to put in your utility spots, and a couple of value options to make the rest of the lineup work! The key to succeeding in NBA DFS is making adjustments during the day as injury information becomes available.

But it's always essential to have a game plan and zero in on the best players and spots before making those adjustments. This article will provide my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings on 5/8/25. Remember to monitor NBA injury news and our excellent NBA injuries report tool, as the slate can completely change before lineups lock at 8:30 p.m. EDT on DraftKings.

Today's NBA DFS MVP Picks

These are the guys you want headlining your lineups at the MVP position.

Jimmy Butler, GSW -  SF (FanDuel Only)/PF ($16.8K DK, $22.8K FD)

Jimmy Butler is in a prime position as one of the slate's highest-scoring players. Stephen Curry is out for a week, which should give Butler a near four percent usage increase. Curry only played 13 minutes in Game 1, which led to a few players seeing an increase in minutes and usage. Butler finished with 50 fantasy points.

Butler should be the primary scorer and the ball-handler in this one. Everything should be going through Butler, leading to what could be a big fantasy night for him.

Anthony Edwards, MIN  – PG (DraftKings Only)/SG/SF (FanDuel Only) ($18K DK, $23.1K FD)

Anthony Edwards had a poor shooting night in Game 1, but that didn't stop him from finishing with 52 fantasy points. He has been nothing but fantastic during the playoffs this season. He has 50+ in his last four playoff games, and I don't expect that to stop anytime soon.

He is quite expensive in the MVP position, but he will likely be one of the top scorers on the slate and should be highly regarded in either the MVP or Utility positions.

Others To Consider: Draymond Green- PF/C, Rudy Gobert - C

Today's NBA DFS Utility

These players are ones you may want to add to your Utility spots!

Naz Reid, MIN – PF/C ($6.6K DK, $6.6K FD)

Naz Reid has been magnificent off the bench this season. I feel that his price is too cheap for his potential output. His ability to shoot the ball is his biggest asset. If the three-ball is landing for him, he will get increased minutes. The Warriors are also quite prone to giving up fantasy points to centers. As long as Reid sees 30+ minutes, he should continue to be a solid Utility option.

Buddy Hield, GSW – SG/SF ($7.6K DK, $6.4K FD)

Buddy Hield has looked great in back-to-back games. He will need to continue to shoot the ball well. If he does that, he can be a lethal part of this offense and will be much needed. In the last two games, his minutes have skyrocketed to 36+ a game. He doesn't need a lot to be valuable at his price, but if he can keep up the great shooting, he should have no issue getting the job done.

Others To Consider: Julius Randle - PF/C (DraftKings Only), Jaden McDaniels - SF/PF

Today's NBA DFS Value Picks

Gary Payton II, GSW - SG/SF ($4.4K DK, $4.4K FD)

Gary Payton II will slot into a much bigger role, given that Curry has been injured. In Game 1, we saw Payton play 25 minutes, the most he has seen during the playoffs. He was solid this time, finishing with 22 fantasy points. At his price, we don't need much from him to get solid value. Payton plays elite defense and can rack up steals, leading to more fantasy points.

Donte DiVincenzo, MIN – PG/SG ($6.2K DK, $5.8K FD)

The Timberwolves are relying on Donte DiVincenzo to be more of a primary PG for the Wolves, as Mike Conley hasn't exactly been too productive in the starting unit. DiVincenzo has played 28+ minutes in four straight playoff games. He is the cheapest guy on the slate that is averaging over 28 minutes a game. If we see anything over 25 fantasy points, I'll consider that a win at his value.

Others to Consider: Moses Moody - SG/SF, Kevon Looney - C

As the NBA playoffs heat up, so do the opportunities to win more in Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) on DraftKings and FanDuel. Staying informed on late-breaking NBA injury news is critical for success, so be sure to leverage RotoBaller’s expert insights and tools throughout the day to gain an edge on the field.

Whether you're grinding out GPPs or locking in safe cash game picks, a smart NBA DFS strategy can make all the difference. Good luck tonight, and may your lineups crush!
