MLB DFS Stacking - Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Stacks Today (4/23/2025)

Tyler Soderstrom - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News

Today's top MLB DFS stacks for DraftKings and FanDuel on Wednesday April 23, 2025. Our daily fantasy baseball stacking picks, team stacks and contrarian stacks.

Winning tournament lineups in MLB DFS almost always contain some correlated plays from the same team. In DFS, we refer to loading up on one offense with four (FanDuel) or even five (DraftKings) players from the same lineup as "stacking."

To create the winning lineup on any given night, you will have to have some of the top-scoring fantasy players on the slate. While nailing the right pitcher (or both pitchers on DraftKings) is undoubtedly important, getting the most productive hitters from the highest scoring offense is often more important. You can go hunting for home runs with one-offs or mini stacks, but a full stack of an offense that scores in double-digits is still what you will probably need to take down a tournament. This article will provide you with some stacking options in GPPs, and not just the obvious ones either!

This article will provide my top daily fantasy baseball hitting stacks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 4/23/2025. The FanDuel main slate is 10 games starting at 6:45 p.m. EDT, while the DraftKings main slate is only eight games and starts at 7:00 p.m. EDT. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is always essential.

Top MLB DFS Team Stack

Offense: Athletics

Opposing Pitcher: Kumar Rocker

Vegas Implied Team Total: 4.9 runs

Kumar Rocker may still end up being a productive pitcher at the big league level, but his first four starts have been a mixed bag of results with some troubling batted ball metrics. He's coming off his best start of the year, striking out eight Angels over seven frames; however, he also allowed three runs on five hits, and his ERA remains over 6.00.

What's not sustainable about those strikeouts is the fact that Rocker threw over 50 percent sliders to the Angels. He won't be able to do that tonight as the Athletics have four power-hitting lefties they can stagger throughout their lineup in Lawrence Butler, Tyler Soderstrom, JJ Bleday, and rookie Nick Kurtz.

The Athletics enter tonight's game ranked eighth in wRC+ against RHP and are the toughest team to strike out with just an 18 percent K percentage. With Sutter Health Park being a favorable environment for hitters so far this season, I love the Athletics' bats here. Rocker is allowing an 11 percent Barrel percentage, 51 percent hard contact, and has a poor 92.7 Z-Contact percentage.

Favorite Stack Combination: Lawrence Butler, Brent Rooker, Tyler Soderstrom, Nick Kurtz

Top MLB DFS Chalk Stacks

Offense: Boston Red Sox (FanDuel Only)

Opposing Pitcher: Emerson Hancock

Vegas Implied Team Total: 5.5 runs

DFS players gravitate to the highest team totals, and it's easy to see why anyone would like the Red Sox today when we look at Emerson Hancock's numbers. He's made only two starts this season, but Hancock's 7.18 xERA is the worst on the board, and his 13.6 Barrel percentage is the second-worst mark of any pitcher toeing the rubber today.

Boston ranks just 13th in wRC+ against RHP this season, but they were one of the top offenses vs. righties last year. Their overall number this season has been held down by slow starts from Rafael Devers, Triston Casas, and a few others, but this offense is slowly starting to round into form.

The right-handed bats of Alex Bregman and Trevor Story have been potent to start the year, and rookie Kristian Campbell has hit, too. With Hancock showing some slight reverse splits, don't skip over the righties in your stack combinations today, especially with the short porch in right field favoring right-handed power.

For what it's worth, I like Boston more than the other top team total on the FanDuel slate (Baltimore) as they face Trevor Williams, who is just decent enough to troll everyone with a respectable start.

Favorite Stack Combination: Rafael Devers, Alex Bregman, Trevor Story, Wilyer Abreu

Runner Up: Baltimore Orioles vs. Trevor Williams - FanDuel Only (Cedric Mullins, Gunnar Henderson, Adley Rutschman, Ryan O'Hearn)

Top MLB DFS Mini Stacks

Offense: Minnesota Twins

Opposing Pitcher: Bryse Wilson and the White Sox Bullpen

Vegas Implied Team Total: 5.4 runs

When I think of a mini-stack, I think of two or three players who stand out as the primary targets on an offense for a specific reason. It may be that they have a specific platoon matchup that the rest of the lineup doesn't, or they are cheap while the rest of the lineup is expensive, or maybe they are just the hot bats while the rest of the lineup is cold.

In this case, it's the latter as the Twins' offense has sputtered for much of the 2025 season. Yet, they have one of the best matchups on the slate today against a pretty bad reliever, White Sox long man Bryse Wilson, who has floated between starting and bullpen duty for most of his career.

The Twins have a solid implied run total today, but it's hard to trust them with a full stack, so I am going to roll their 2-3-4 hitters out with Byron Buxton and Trevor Larnach having power upside (Larnach homered last night) and the rookie Luke Keaschall showing an impressive ability to get on base and steal some bags (he had two steals last night).

Wilson has a 6.28 ERA, and the White Sox bullpen ranks 19th in ERA so far this season. If you can't stomach the Twins, then consider the top three Pirates tonight against another pitcher who doesn't miss bats, Angels' righty Jack Kochanowicz.

Favorite Stack Combination: Byron Buxton, Luke Keaschall, Trevor Larnach

Runner-Up: Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Jack Kochanowicz (Oneil Cruz, Bryan Reynolds, Andrew McCutchen)

Top MLB DFS Contrarian Stacks

Offense: Washington Nationals (FanDuel Only)

Opposing Pitcher: Tomoyuki Sugano

Vegas Implied Team Total: 4.6 runs

So we are back on FanDuel here, where they have included the two 6:45 games that just happen to have all four teams as viable stacks. I think one team that will easily get overlooked tonight is the Washington Nationals, for no other reason than people still think of them as a bad team.

But the Nats' offense is heating up. They have worked their way up from the bottom of the offensive rankings to the middle of the pack thanks to some strong hitting over the last ten days.

Washington hung seven runs on 14 hits on Baltimore last night, and the Orioles are rolling out their fifth starter, Tomoyuki Sugano, tonight. Sugano has been objectively bad so far this season with a 6.41 xERA, 12.3 Barrel percentage, and only a nine percent strikeout rate.

Washington is still missing CJ Abrams at the top of the lineup, but James Wood is crushing the baseball, and Nathaniel Lowe hit another bomb last night. Rookie Dylan Crews had a two-HR game on their trip to Coors last weekend, and Josh Bell is always a cheap power threat in the middle of this lineup.

Luis Garcia and Keibert Ruiz are solid options to fill out this stack, too, and it's one of the most affordable stacks on the FanDuel main slate. Don't sleep on the Nats, they are in a prime spot tonight and will be lightly rostered. They are my favorite stack for leverage in tournaments.

Favorite Stack Combination: James Wood, Nathaniel Lowe, Josh Bell, Dylan Crews

Runner Up: Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Taj Bradley (Corbin Carroll, Pavin Smith, Josh Naylor, Tim Tawa)
