Joshua Palmer fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 1 (2025). Should you start or sit Joshua Palmer for fantasy football lineups in Week 1?
BALLER MOVE: Start in 14+ team leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR4
ANALYSIS: The Buffalo Bills signed wideout Joshua Palmer to a three-year contract worth $29 million during the offseason. This was the team's primary move regarding their pass-catching room, as they did not add a receiver in the draft. However, they did extend running back James Cook.
Last season, Palmer spent his fourth season in Los Angeles with the Chargers. He caught 39 passes for 584 yards and one score. This was right in line with his 2023 production, where Palmer caught 38 passes for 581 yards and two touchdowns. Palmer enjoyed his best season in 2022, where he tallied 769 yards and three touchdowns.
Fantasy managers should not expect Palmer to return to his level of production, as he will face stiff target competition once again in Buffalo. He will likely slot in as the No. 2/No. 3 WR alongside second-year wideout Keon Coleman, as Khalil Shakir has established himself as the top wideout. He will also compete for targets with tight end Dalton Kincaid and the running back room led by Cook.
Throughout training camp, he flashed potential at times with Josh Allen, but fantasy managers should take a cautious approach until it occurs during the regular season.
Despite facing the high-powered Baltimore Ravens in what could be a high-scoring affair, Palmer is best left on the bench outside of a deep 14+ team league as a desperation WR4/high-risk flex option. While he could eventually become a reliable option in this offense, it is not worth taking that risk in Week 1.
