BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: QB1
ANALYSIS: Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has never been an elite fantasy football player. The former No. 1 overall pick has been a solid option since joining the Lions. Goff is the QB8 for the year, averaging 17.2 fantasy points per game. The veteran has earned the respect of those in the fantasy football community and the NFL.
While he is a top-10 quarterback for the season, Goff has struggled away from Ford Field. Last week, the quarterback had 257 passing yards, one touchdown, and 14.3 fantasy points in the win over the Minnesota Vikings on the road. By comparison, he had 278 passing yards, five touchdowns, and 31.1 fantasy points two weeks ago at home against the Denver Broncos.
Unfortunately, Goff has to play on the road during the fantasy football championship week. While he will play in a dome, the matchup isn’t ideal for the veteran. The Dallas Cowboys have held quarterbacks to 14.9 fantasy points per game, slightly below the league average.
Over the past three weeks, the Cowboys have surrendered only 194.7 passing yards, 0.7 touchdowns, and 13.5 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. While Goff is a decent low-end QB1 option, fantasy players should temper expectations for the veteran.
