MLB Pitcher Prop Bets - Today's Betting Picks

Spencer Strider OVER 7.5 strikeouts (-138 FanDuel Sportsbook)

So DraftKings didn't post a number on Strider yet, but he's up on FanDuel at just 7.5 strikeouts despite striking out 9+ batters in each of his first five starts including 13 Marlins in eight innings of total domination his last time on the mound.

The Mets are not an ideal matchup with only a 19% strikeout rate and a solid 11% walk rate, however, Strider has crushed every matchup this year and has been almost unhittable at times. We simply don't see 42% strikeout rates very often and his strikeouts are totally sustainable as he's got an elite 20% swinging strike rate. We haven't seen anyone dominate like this since a younger, healthier Jacob deGrom of yesteryear. I love Strider's chances of getting 8 here even in a tougher spot.

Nathan Eovaldi OVER 5.5 strikeouts (-105 DraftKings Sportsbook)

Eovaldi has been generating a lot of whiffs so far in Texas and has a 26% K rate through his first 27 innings. He has 6+ strikeouts in four of five starts as he missed just once against KC with five Ks two weeks ago. Today he gets a watered-down Yankees lineup that should be without Aaron Judge again and the Yanks are whiffing 25% of the time against righties. Grab Eovaldi at these odds now, I have a feeling he's going to drift during the day as bettors see this number, his track record, and the projected matchup.

Reid Detmers OVER 6.5 strikeouts (-135 DraftKings Sportsbook)

This is actually my favorite play of the day and I'm going to be laddering up Detmers on FanDuel all the way up to 10 strikeouts tonight.

Why would I do that? Detmers's season-high is only 7 so far this season (he's done that twice) so what gives?

Let's take a peek at what lefty starters have done against the Brew Crew so far this year (courtesy of StatMuse).

Keep in mind that Tyler Anderson was struggling badly this year before going off on the Brewers for seven strikeouts and 6.2 relatively clean innings. Marco Gonzales struck out 9! Matthew Boyd set his season high in strikeouts in his last start against them, too. The only real poor outing here was by Peterson, who still managed five Ks despite getting hit hard and leaving after four innings.

The Brewers are striking out over 33% of the time against lefties! That's massive! In fact, it's the worst K% against lefties or righties in baseball right now.  Detmers has an excellent 26% strikeout rate and has been cleaner in his outings lately with only one walk in each of his last two starts. We are smashing the button here, folks, sound the alarms - Reid Detmers is going for 10 strikeouts tonight!

MLB Hitter Prop Bets - Today's Betting Picks

Andrew McCutchen OVER 1.5 total bases (+105 DraftKings SportsBook)

Is there a better story in baseball right now than Cutch coming home to Pittsburgh and leading the Pirates to a division lead in the first month of the season? Well, I am a Pirates fan so at least it has been for me. McCutchen has been a pleasant surprise for Pittsburgh, hitting .272 with 5 HR and 13 RBI. Heck, he's even stolen 4 bases, too.

He's been mashing left-handed pitching, too, something he's done pretty consistently throughout his career. He's sitting a .382 wOBA and .364 ISO against lefties so far and will face the lefty we love to pick on with bats - Mr. Patrick Corbin. Cutch has had some modest success against Corbin in his career, with 3 HR and 11 hits in 47 at-bats. We are getting some nice odds on him here at plus money and I'm rolling with the hot bat of Cutch to keep it going against Corbin and company in this first game of the Pirates-Nationals double-header.

Jonathan India OVER 1.5 hits, runs, or RBI (-105 DraftKings SportsBook)

The Reds have been a pretty poor offensive unit this year, but India has been their most consistent hitter and producer at the top of the lineup. The good news for Cincy is that they can feast on some bad Oakland pitching over the weekend and they already started last night when they put up 11 runs and helped me win some money in DFS.

Today, they'll face lefty Kyle Muller who has only a 14% strikeout rate and a 10% walk rate this season. India is a patient hitter who can draw walks or work counts in his favor. He's on base a lot and has already scored 22 runs this season. Against Muller and the worst bullpen in baseball (by a wide margin), I love his chances of collecting 2+ hits, runs, or RBI today. If you want another Reds hitter you can get at plus money, consider the red-hot Nick Senzel o1.5 at +100, too.
