Deeper League Catchers: Waiver Wire Options for Week 22

Four Catcher Sleepers for the Final Push

We're coming down the stretch, and this may be the final battle before the playoffs for all you H2H fantasy managers. That said, I wanted to concentrate on sleepers who are on a hot streak, and who may be able to help fantasy owners in deeper leagues for the last push of the regular season.

Miguel Montero - C, Arizona Dbacks

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

ANALYSIS: Just getting formalities out of the way here: Miguel Montero has had an abysmal August, but it looks like he may be at the beginning of a tear.

After going hitless in four games out of five, the D-backs gave Montero a day off. He's responded by going 4-for-9 with one homer, four RBI and two runs scored in his past three contests.

Miguel is owned in 75% of Yahoo leagues, but if an impatient owner in your league jumped ship, take advantage of the mistake-- grab Montero for these final weeks of the regular season and into the fantasy playoffs.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia - C, Miami Marlins

BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues

ANALYSIS: Jarrod Saltalamacchia is on a nice little tear as of late for the Marlins, currently riding a six-game hitting streak and collecting a hit in eight of his past ten. This stretch includes five multi-hit games, five runs, seven RBI and one home run.

Salty had hit a bit of a rough patch in late July into early August, but he's currently riding high and there's no reason fantasy managers in need can't ride that wave with him to get one step closer to the promised land.

Dioner Navarro - C, Toronto Jays

BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues

ANALYSIS: With the Blue Jays fighting for that coveted last wild card  spot, Dioner Navarro has been trying to turn it on in August. This is great news for fantasy managers in a pinch at the catcher position.

Since July 31st, Navarro has three bombs, ten RBI and six runs-- while those aren't exactly explosive numbers, if you're a Yan Gomes owner or you're dealing with a struggling backstop in a two-catcher league, Navarro can definitely help plug the gap.

Yasmani Grandal - C / 1B, San Diego Padres

BALLER MOVE: Add in Very Deep Leagues

ANALYSIS: Yasmani Grandal has had a fairly forgettable 2014 campaign with his current .204/.302/.376 slash line, but he has had two home runs in the last  ten days. And while he is a member of an offensively challenged Padres lineup, they have been scoring a bit more of late, even in the losses.

Grandal has gotten eight RBI and four runs to add to his August warm streak, but he's still a "last-resort" option for those in 14+ team leagues with only the barest of bones left on the wire.
