DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (6/21/22): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

Ke'Bryan Hayes fantasy baseball rankings draft sleepers MLB injury news

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on June 21st 2022. Mark Kieffer's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Father's day to all the dads out there! It's Sunday Funday, and we're ready for a full slate of MLB action. For those who are not familiar, welcome back my fellow RotoBallers to our free daily article for MLB DFS lineup picks and value plays. This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on 6/21/2022, Main Slate at 7:05 pm Eastern Time.

The lineup will range from some elite players to mid-priced options, and value plays. The main slate is 8 games on DraftKings and 9 on FanDuel. The one game that is FanDuel only is Coors field.  There are a lot of different routes one can go with lineup construction and tournament strategy.

You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups. If you have any questions or comments, find me on Twitter @Mark_Kieffer and ask away!

Today's MLB Weather Outlook

No weather concerns, play ball!

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Spencer Strider - P, ATL vs SF ($8,600 DK, $8,700 FD)

Spencer Strider has the lowest SIERA on the slate (2.62) and the highest strikeout rate on the slate (38.6%). On FanDuel, where the quality start is important, he is a bit of a risk as he has not made it six innings this season yet. He has made it 5.2 innings each of the last two starts. On DraftKings, with all the strikeout upside he has, I like him quite a bit at his price. The Giants are in the top 10 in most offensive categories, so they aren't necessarily an offense I am targeting but they also aren't an offense that scares me off of Strider.

Kevin Gausman - P, TOR @ CHW ($10,200 DK, $10,200 FD)

Kevin Gausman takes on the Chicago White Sox. Gausman has a 3.05 SIERA, a 26.1% strikeout rate, and just a 3.6% walk rate.  The White Sox have the seventh-lowest strikeout rate in baseball (20.3%), so while there may not be as much strikeout upside this is an offense that ranks low in most major categories. They have the 20th best OBP, the fifth-lowest ISO, and have scored the seventh-fewest runs in baseball.

Roansy Contreras - P, PIT vs. CHC ($7,400 DK, $7,700 FD)

Roansy Contreras goes against the Chicago Cubs tonight. He has a 3.67 SIERA, a 25.2% strikeout rate, and an 8.6% walk rate. The Pirates are favored today as well; The Cubs' offense is nothing to scare me off of him for. He is a risk for a quality start and a win, which is important on FanDuel. He has gone 5.2 innings once, never six innings, and in the last two starts, he could not finish the fifth inning.

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Ke'Bryan Hayes - 3B, PIT vs. Matt Swarmer ($3,600 DK, $3,000 FD)

Hayes is likely to lead off, in a game Pittsburgh is favored in, against a pitcher allowing a hard-hit rate of 45.9%, and is at a value.

Javier Baez - SS, DET vs. Rich Hill ($3,800 DK, $2,700 FD)

Just like that, Baez has a .385 wOBA and .184 ISO against left-handed pitching this season. Oneil Cruz, who is $2K on both sites, is a worth punt, especially if not playing Hayes in the same lineup.

Brendan Donovan - 2B, STL vs. Chi Chi Gonzalez ($3,700 DK, $3,500 FD)

Reliable guy to get on base with a .420 OBP.  Doesn't hit for much power but the Cardinals should score runs today and he could be on base often scoring and driving runs in.

Jared Walsh - 1B, LAA vs. Jonathan Heasley ($3,400 DK, $3,000 FD)

Heasley has a 5.43 SIERA -- the highest on the slate. The Angels are a good play in general and Walsh comes in at a value compared to Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani. Walsh has a .346 wOBA and .229 ISO against right handed pitching this season.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Bryan Reynolds - OF, PIT vs. Matt Swarmer ($3,800 DK, $2,900 FD)

Reynolds has a .344 wOBA and .226 ISO against right-handed pitching. I do not mind mini-stacking with Hayes even in a cash game.

Anthony Santander - OF, BAL vs. Erick Fedde ($3,900 DK, $3,200 FD)

Santander has a .355 wOBA and .201 ISO against right-handed pitching and Fedde is a bad right-handed pitcher.

Cardinals Outfielders vs. Chi Chi Gonzalez

Whether it's Juan Yepez, Dylan Carlson, or Harrison Bader, I think they are all underpriced. It will depend on batting order; Yepez is likely to hit in a more favorable spot in the order.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

Here are a few stacks I am really liking today:

  • Los Angeles Angels - Jonathan Heasley has a 5.43 SIERA....
  • Seattle Mariners - James Kaprielian has a 5.29 SIERA and is allowing 2.18 HR/9. They are playing in a pitchers park in Oakland, so this could end up being more sneaky.
  • Baltimore Orioles - Erick Fedde is just bad
  • Boston Red Sox- Beau Brieske is bad: 4.70 SIERA, 1.98 HR/9, 16.4% strikeout rate. This is likely to be the chalkiest stack on the slate though.
  • Saint Louis Cardinals - Chi Chi Gonzalez is a pitcher I always want to target in DFS
  • Pittsburgh Pirates - Matt Swarmer is giving up a ton of hard contact and this offense is coming to life with all the youngsters they are adding.

In general, many of the bad pitchers are going up against average to below-average offenses. I'd recommend playing 3-5 lineups to get exposure to several of the above stacks.
