DraftKings CBB DFS Lineup Picks For 1/5/24 - Daily Fantasy College Basketball Advice

Zach Edey - CBB DFS Picks, NCAA Daily College Fantasy Basketball

Today's DraftKings college basketball DFS lineup picks for 1/5/24. Mike Marteny's CBB daily fantasy advice and lineup sleepers to help you win on DraftKings.

We have a nice five-game slate on tap for tonight. We have some Big East, some Big Ten (14), and even some basketball MACtion. We even have a game out west to keep us occupied for a while. What more can you ask for?

We begin in Indy as UConn visits Butler. Next up is the Redhawks in Toledo to take on the Rockets. Illinois heads over to West Lafayette to take on Purdue. Bowling Green heads up to Akron to take on the Zips. We finish in San Jose as Boise State visits the Spartans.

In this article, I will provide you with my daily fantasy college basketball lineup picks for DraftKings on 1/5/24, starting at 6:30 pm Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions at guard and forward, aiming to highlight one option at the salary scale's high, middle, and lower end. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CBB DFS Guards

Marcus Domask, Illinois ($7,900)

The first couple of games without Terrence Shannon Jr. were a bit of an adventure for Illinois, but they unearthed a gem in Domask. He dropped 32 points on Northwestern earlier this week -- one of the best defensive teams in the Big Ten. That's four straight games in double figures for Domask. He also has at least four rebounds and six assists in each game with Shannon out.

Quincy Guerrier, Illinois ($7,000)

Guerrier has back-to-back double-doubles and missed a third by just two rebounds in the four games without Shannon. Guerrier has scored in double figures in five straight and has at least seven rebounds in four straight. There was a lot of production to go around when Shannon was dismissed, but the Illini have taken it a step further. They have won four in a row with big wins over Northwestern and Missouri in that span.

Max Rice, Boise State ($6,300)

Rice has a high ceiling because of his scoring potential. He has scored at least 20 points in three of the last five games. The issue is that Rice sometimes goes cold from the floor. When that happens, he can crater a lineup because he doesn't do much else aside from scoring. The 20+ point potential is intoxicating for a guy in this price range though.

Trey Thomas, Bowling Green ($4,100)

Someone messed up. Thomas has 98.75 DraftKings points over the last three games for the Falcons. The Vanderbilt transfer has proven to be a capable scorer and a good facilitator of this offense. Marcus Hill does the bulk of the scoring, but Thomas has still finished in double figures in four of the last five games. There is enormous potential at this price.

Also consider: Marcus Hill, Bowling Green ($7,900); Alvaro Cardenas, San Jose State ($7,400); Tyler Cochran, Toledo ($6,500); Evan Ipsaro, Miami (OH) ($6,000); Hassan Diarra, Connecticut ($5,300); Justin Harmon, Illinois ($5,100)

DraftKings CBB DFS Forwards

Zach Edey, Purdue ($10,500)

No one comes close to the ceiling of Edey, so he's hard to pass on in cash games. However, we can probably do better in GPPs. Edey hasn't topped 50 DraftKings points since the Iowa game on December 4. Some of that is blowout wins (Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville). Some of that is tough opponents (Maryland, Alabama, Arizona). As DFS players, we like to see a pattern of strong play. A double-double in a physical, low-scoring game against Maryland is a step in the right direction, but the price makes it tough to have Edey and Illinois guards.

Rashaun Agee, Bowling Green ($7,200)

Agee has been a double-double machine of late. He has four of them in the last five games and missed a fifth by one rebound against Sienna Heights. Akron's size will be a problem, but Enrique Freeman should spend most of his time on Jason Spurgin and not Agee. He could have trouble snagging double-digit rebounds with Freeman around, but he should still put up a solid line for the price.

O'Mar Stanley, Boise State ($6,700)

Stanley has topped 30 DraftKings points in three straight games and four of the last five. Boise's brutal non-conference schedule has suppressed Stanley's numbers so far, but he has 57 points and 23 rebounds over the last three games. Stanley is a good rim protector as well, adding to his floor with around two blocks per game in the last fortnight.

Samson Johnson, Connecticut ($5,700)

The inconsistency of Alex Karaban is going to cut into Johnson's action at times, but he has guaranteed minutes for as long as Donovan Clingan is out. Johnson has 24 points, five rebounds, five blocks, a steal, and an assist over the last two games. He's going to continue to see good minutes, but his role in the offense will be inconsistent. We're relying on a floor from blocks and rebounds.

Also consider: Enrique Freeman, Akron ($9,600); Tyson Degenhart, Boise State ($7,100); Coleman Hawkins, Illinois ($7,000); Sam Towns, Bowling Green ($5,500); Mason Gillis, Purdue ($4,400)
