DraftKings and FanDuel Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks (2/24/23): NBA DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on February 24, 2023. Thunder Dan Palyo provides NBA DFS analysis and sleeper picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

The NBA returned last night after a full week off and there were no shortages of surprises as Damian Lillard was randomly rested and then Fred VanVleet was a last-minute scratch, too. I know a lot of folks are pretty disheartened by the NBA injury situation and all these guys resting, teams tanking, etc... But the reality is that if you like playing NBA DFS, you're going to need to get used to it because it's going to be like this down the stretch until we get to the playoffs.

With both FanDuel and DraftKings having multi-position eligibility players, we'll have to attack slates accordingly to make our lineups as optimal as possible. That's where I come in! I'll look to find my personal top plays and values for tonight's slate. Things can change during the day as well, so I'll do my best to update as news comes out!

So here are my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for FanDuel and DraftKings on 2/24/23. Keep an eye on RotoBaller’s NBA injury news and also our full NBA injury report today to stay up to date before lineups are locked.

DraftKings and FanDuel Guards - NBA DFS Lineup Picks

LaMelo Ball @ MIN (FD: $10,300, DK: $11,000)

If there's one guy to pay up for on this slate, it just might be LaMelo. The Hornets and Timberwolves square off in a game with a massive 241 total tonight and there are going to be a few pieces on each side that deserve strong consideration for our lineups.

Point guards have fared well against Minnesota this season, and Ball has been in excellent form recently. He's gone over 50 DK points in six of his last seven games (60+ in three of those games) and has been flirting with triple-doubles nightly. In a game that projects to be fast-paced and high-scoring, it's hard not to love him even at this elevated price.

Jordan Poole vs. HOU (FD: $8,300, DK: $8,300)

Poole and the Warriors were handled by the Lakers last night, but they get a chance to bounce back with a soft landing spot here against Houston on a back-to-back. The Rockets have been abysmal on defense, especially to point guards, and Poole got a major price reduction from yesterday when he was $9100. Andrew Wiggins is still out for the Warriors in addition to Steph Curry, meaning Poole and Klay Thompson are going to have to be the main scorers for GSW once again.

Terrence Ross vs. OKC (FD: $3,500, DK: $3,600)

Here's where I am going off the grid a little. Ross might not show well in projections today, mainly because no one probably knows how many minutes to pencil him in for tonight. But he was awesome for Phoenix in his debut, dropping 27.5 DK points in 25 minutes off the bench and there's reason to believe he will maintain his bench scorer role for a bit longer until we see Durant healthy and guys like Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet return. He's a gunner and he took 17 shots in that first game, which shows that he has the confidence in his shot that we are looking for. He's dirt cheap and has some major GPP appeal if he gets hot from behind the arc.

Also consider: Josh Christopher/TyTy Washington @ GSW (value), Mikal Bridges @ CHI (GPP pivot)

DraftKings and FanDuel Forwards - NBA DFS Lineup Picks

Evan Mobley @ ATL (FD: $7,400, DK: $7,300)

Mobley was fantastic last night for the Cavs on both ends, but Cleveland came up just short against a good Denver team. I watch every Cavs game and I can tell you that this kid is going to be something really special. He's become a lot more assertive on offense over the last few months and there are few other big men who can guard him because he can put the ball on the floor and is developing a number of different moves in the post. Atlanta is without John Collins tonight, so they'll probably have to put someone like DeAndre Hunter on Mobley and that's a mismatch he can definitely exploit.

RJ Barrett @ WAS (FD: $6,100, DK: $5,700)

Barrett has been the third option on offense for the Knicks this year as Jalen Brunson has usurped some of the usage we saw Barrett get last season and Julius Randle is always going to eat first in this offense. But Barrett is far too cheap tonight for this matchup, especially on DK where he's under 6k despite being fully healthy and expected to play his usual 34 minutes. He's a nice cash game piece tonight because he should be good for an easy 5x at this price tag and wing players have given Washington trouble this year as well.

Kevin Love @ MIL (FD: $3,900, DK: $3,000)

This is my other sneaky punt play of the day! Love should make his debut for the Heat tonight and while I will cry some tears that he's no longer in a Cavs jersey, I will also be cheering him on to make a big splash for his new team. This Heat team badly needs some offense with their second unit and Love brings a solid skill set to the table with his rebounding, passing, and three-point shooting. He's played well historically against the Bucks, too, a team that is usually vulnerable to three-point shooters and there's no Giannis to worry about here for Milwaukee either.

Also consider: Anthony Edwards/Kyle Anderson vs. CHA, Josh Okogie vs. OKC

 

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NBA DFS Lineup Picks

Rudy Gobert vs. CHA (FD: $7,900, DK: $7,200)

The flow chart play all season has been "centers against Charlotte" and while the recent trends for that DvP matchup are showing that it's slowing down in terms of production, I am still on Gobert here at this price and in this spot. Rudy went into the break in great form, posting two huge double-doubles against Dallas and Washington and he is yet another piece of this game that I want exposure to as he could definitely pop off for a 20-20 type performance here in this spot against a weak Charlotte interior defense.

Mason Plumlee vs. SAC (FD: $5,800, DK: $5,100)

Plumlee interests me here quite a bit based on one thing - his platoon-mate Ivica Zubac has been ruled out tonight, so we could see 30+ minutes from the former Charlotte big man and his price is the lowest we have seen for him in some time. LA is going to likely have to play big in order to matchup with Sabonis, and Sabo is not all that good of an interior defender which means Plumlee could do some damage.

Also consider: Clint Capela vs. CLE, Jarrett Allen vs. ATL, Jonathan Kuminga vs. HOU
