ANALYSIS: Carolina Panthers wide receiver Diontae Johnson (ribs) is a frustrating player to own. He's been very boom-or-bust in the games when Andy Dalton (thumb) has started, and the offense as a whole fails to show up sometimes. He has scored 19 or more PPR fantasy points in three games while failing to break six points in the others.

Dalton won't start this week, though. Johnson should be benched. He faces a ferocious Denver Broncos pass defense in Week 8. Pat Surtain II (concussion) is one of the best cornerbacks in the league and will likely shadow Johnson. Also, Bryce Young will start for the Panthers, and he and Deshaun Watson have easily been the worst QBs in the league this year.
Young has not shown us at any point that he can support fantasy relevance for any of his pass-catchers, so it's tough to advocate for starting the former Pittsburgh Steeler. He's an excellent receiver, but he has too much working against him. Even if Surtain doesn't return to play, Carolina's offense as a whole has been flat with Young under center.
