NHL DFS Picks for Tuesday, December 22nd
Welcome back for the final games on the NHL schedule before Christmas on Friday. We have a giant 10 slate tonight with seven teams playing on back to back nights and nine teams playing a third game in four nights. There are some heavy home favorites tonight which will be good targets for your goaltenders.
A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.
For large field tournaments(GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi point upside and can grab double digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.
With that, let's dig in to find some core plays for Tuesday night.
Ben Bishop - Goaltender, Lightning (DraftKings - $7,400 FanDuel - $8,900)
He is in a great spot on Tuesday as the Lightning are home favorites(-195) vs. the struggling Canucks who are 3-5-2 in their last 10 games. Bishop has alternated wins and losses lately but has only allowed more than 2 goals against twice in his last 12 starts.
Patrice Bergeron - Center, Bruins (DraftKings - $7,100 FanDuel - $8,700)
He has been an extremely consistent point per game player this year that has also added over three shots per game. He should only be used in cash games on Tuesday as the Bruins have a tough matchup vs. the St. Louis Blues.
Patrick Kane - Winger, Blackhawks (DraftKings - $8,800 FanDuel - $8,700)
When one point streak ends another shall begin. This is the case with Kane who is on a three game point streak after having his 26 game streak broke last week. He is coming off a game vs. the Sharks where he picked up a goal, an assist, 7 shots on goal and a +4 rating. It is a tough matchup vs the Stars but Kane is an elite player and matchup proof.
Andrew Ladd - Winger, Jets (DraftKings - $5,200 FanDuel - $7,300)
He makes a great cash game play, especially on DraftKings where is price quite a bit lower. He has picked up seven points in his last 10 games and added 34 shots in that time. The Jets head to Calgary to face the Flames who are ranked 30th in goals allowed per game.
Dougie Hamilton - Defense, Flames (DraftKings - $4,700 FanDuel - $5,800)
His salary remains affordable due to his slow start but has started to turn it around as of late. In his previous 10 games he has seven points, 25 shots, 11 blocks and a +6 rating. The Flames are in a great matchup as favorites vs. the Jets on Tuesday and have played much better on home ice.
