BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team PPR Leagues
ROSTERED: 34% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Kenyan Drake and Chase Edmonds are the only two players to share duties on Arizona's backfield. Makes sense, considering the team traded for stud WR DeAndre Hopkins and features mighty Kyler Murray at quarterback. The thing is, Edmonds has been the much more valuable play over Drake so far this season. In fact, Drake has steadily lost snaps from Week 1 (58) to Week 4 (37) while Edmonds has maintained his playing time (28, 27, 21, 21 snaps).
When I say that Edmons has returned more value than Drake, that takes both players' ADP in consideration. Drake was getting drafted as a second-rounder. Edmonds, not so much. Drake has scored 38.4 PPR points through W4 to Edmonds' 36.2, though, and he's been losing ground to the RB2 in three consecutive weeks. In fact, this past Sunday, Edmonds demolished Drake's performance.
Chase Edmonds finished W4 with 16 yards on 4 carries (bad) but he supplemented that with 5 receptions on 6 targets for 24 yards and a receiving TD. That makes it two scores through the air for him this season, compared to Drake's zero.
While Drake will keep holding RB1 duties on the ground, his contributions on the passing game are close to null. That is why you should make Edmonds a priority in any 12-team league, even more if it uses the PPR format. I don't think Arizona will have any problem in demoting Drake to the RB2 role if Edmonds gets a heavier dose of rushing attempts and proves to be efficient at it, too. Consider Edmonds a viable weekly FLEX with upside for more if Drake keeps putting on middling performances.
