Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

5043 articles

You won't find a bigger Cubs fan than myself. Aside from my love of fantasy sports, which includes MLB, NFL and NBA, I own my own animal care business. I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago and currently reside in Chicago, IL. My love of fantasy sports started for me in the early 2000's and I have steadily been active with the same group of friends year in and year out for every league in baseball, basketball and football. I am hoping to help all RotoBaller members with any questions they may have. I consider myself an expert with minor league prospects, as it is a love of mine. I hope to give the best advice I can to the RotoBaller world!

Jace Jung Continues Power Surge

Detroit Tigers second base prospect Jace Jung went 2-for-5 with three RBI for Triple-A Toledo on Sunday. Jung's homer was his third in nine games. Jung is the younger brother of Josh Jung and supplies power just like his big brother. Jung's biggest issue in professional career has been plate discipline, but the power is […]

Marcelo Mayer On Fire To Start The Season

Boston Red Sox shortstop prospect Marcelo Mayer went 2-for-5 with a RBI for Double-A Portland on Sunday. The Red Sox number one prospect is now 10-for-28 on the season with one home run, five RBI and two stolen bases on the young season. Mayer split last season between High-A and Double-A, but struggled with a […]

Kyle Teel Blasts First Homer

Boston Red Sox catcher prospect Kyle Teel went 1-for-5 with a solo home run for Double-A Portland on Sunday. The homer would be his first of the young season and he is now hitting .300 over his first 20 at-bats. Teel, 22, is one of the top catching prospects in the minor leagues with ability […]

Junior Caminero Makes Case For Promotion

Tampa Bay Rays third base prospect Junior Caminero returned to the lineup on Sunday with a bang. After being activated from the 7-day injured list with a quad injury that kept him sidelined, Caminero did not miss a beat by going 2-for-6 with a home run and five RBI. The 20-year-old is rated a Top-5 […]

Frank Mozzicato Makes Season Debut

Kansas City Royals pitching prospect Frank Mozzicato tossed four innings in his season debut for High-A Quad Cities. The 20-year-old allowed just one hit and struck out four with no runs allowed, but surrendered three walks. Walks have been the left-hander's kryptonite early on in his career and he will need to maintain those to […]

Yainer Diaz Continues Hot Start

Houston Astros catcher Yainer Diaz continued his strong start of the season on Thursday versus the Kansas City Royals. Diaz went 2-for-5 on the day with a home run. The home run would be the third of the season for the 25-year-old. Diaz has become the full-time catcher with veteran Martin Maldonado signing with the […]

Seth Brown Hits First Homer Of 2024

Oakland Athletics outfielder Seth Brown went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's victory against the Texas Rangers. Brown's home run in the top of the second off Jon Gray would be the only run scored by both teams in a low offensive output. In addition to his home run, he also doubled. He […]

Bryson Stott Hits First Homer

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer in Thursday's victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates. His home run would be the first of the season. Stott is coming off a career year in 2023, but has struggled early on in 2024 with a .220 batting average and five RBI. The good […]

Gunnar Henderson Hits Third Home Run

Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer in Thursday's victory versus the division rival Boston Red Sox. Henderson's home run came in six-run, top of the 10th inning that led to the Orioles chalking up a win. Henderson's homer is now his third of the season to go along with eight […]

Grayson Rodriguez Continues To Raise His Stock

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Grayson Rodriguez fell one out short of earning a quality start in Thursday's contest versus the Boston Red Sox. The youngster went 5 2/3 innings and allowed six hits, two runs, two walks and struck out five on the evening. The two walks were a season high, while the five strikeouts […]

Garrett Whitlock Continues Early Season Success

Earning a no-decision on Thursday, Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Garrett Whitlock tossed five innings versus the division rival Baltimore Orioles. Whitlock allowed four hits, one run, two walks and struck out four on the evening. It was another solid performance, as Whitlock has been having a strong season with the rest of Boston's rotation. […]

Sonny Gray Has Successful Season Debut

Making his season debut on Tuesday, St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Sonny Gray put together five strong innings in a victory against the Philadelphia Phillies. It was his first start of the season and for his new team as he was sidelined with a hamstring injury, but Gray didn't miss a beat allowing five hits, […]

Ryan Helsley Picks Up Fourth Save

After a rough inning of work on Monday that saw St. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley allow two runs (one earned), the right-hander bounced back with a perfect inning on Tuesday to secure his fourth save of the season. Helsley now has tossed seven innings with seven strikeouts and one walk on the season. The […]

Raisel Iglesias Picks Up Save In Shaky Outing

Atlanta Braves closer Raisel Iglesias picked up his second save of the season versus the New York Mets on Tuesday. The veteran entered the ninth inning with a three-run lead, but barely survived to earn the save by allowing two runs on three hits with one strikeout. The good news is that it was the […]

Nolan Gorman Continues Power Surge

St. Louis Cardinals infielder Nolan Gorman continued his power surge in Tuesday's victory against the Philadelphia Phillies. The slugger went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and has now homered three times over the last three games. Gorman got off to a very slow start to open the season, but his power has shown up […]

James Outman Continues To Heat Up

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder James Outman went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Tuesday's victory against the Minnesota Twins. The home run would be the second in as many days for the outfielder that was struggling entering the week. Outman was hot and cold in 2023, but dominant when things were going right. Outman's performance […]

Louie Varland Hit Hard In Loss

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Louie Varland was hit hard in a loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday. The right-hander recorded five innings in the box score and allowed seven hits, six runs, three walks and struck out six on the evening. Other than the strikeouts, Varland didn't do much to help managers. Varland […]

Chad Green Locks Down Second Save

Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Chad Green picked up his second save of the season on Tuesday versus the Seattle Mariners. The veteran tossed 1 1/3 innings and allowed a walk with one strikeout. Green has now appeared in five games and allowed two runs, but has been perfect in two save opportunities. It's encouraging […]

Trea Turner Beginning To Warm Up

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner went 2-for-3 with a walk and stolen base in Tuesday's loss against the St. Louis Cardinals. The stolen base would be his fourth on the young season. Turner had a slow first week of the season, but has now hits safely five times over his last eight at-bats. Managers should […]

George Kirby Continues To Struggle

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher George Kirby put up his second straight underwhelming start on Tuesday versus the Toronto Blue Jays. Over four innings, Kirby allowed eight hits and five runs. The good news is that his command was there with no walks, but he only struck out three on the evening. Kirby entered the season […]

Noah Schultz Looks To Build Off Strong Start

Chicago White Sox pitching prospect Noah Schultz will look to build off an impressive first start when he makes his second start of this season this week for High-A Winston Salem. Schultz, 20, was dominant in his first outing and struck out 10 batters to go along with two hits, no runs and no walks […]

Marco Luciano Off To Hot Start

San Francisco Giants shortstop prospect Marco Luciano has been off to a hot start for Triple-A Sacramento. The 22-year-old was with the team this spring in the Cactus League, but struggled and was demoted to Triple-A to get more seasoning. He has always had a strong glove, but his hitting has needed to catch up […]

Justin Foscue Lands On Injured List

Texas Rangers infield prospect Justin Foscue (oblique) is headed to the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain. It is a shame as Foscue got his first big-league hit off Josh Hader on Sunday. Foscue was promoted last week when third baseman Josh Jung (wrist) landed on the 10-day injured list. Jung has now […]

Walker Jenkins Lands On Injured List

Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins (hamstring) has been placed on the seven-day injured list with a left-hamstring strain. The news comes after the 2023 first-round pick left Fort Myers' Single-A opening game after making a catch at the wall. Jenkins, 19, is still waiting on a timeframe for when he could resume playing. Last […]

Pete Crow-Armstrong Dealing With Elbow Soreness

Chicago Cubs outfield prospect Pete Crow-Armstrong (elbow) is expected to be okay after leaving Sunday's contest with right elbow soreness. PCA missed his second straight game on Tuesday, but it is encouraging that he should not be sideline for long. The defensive specialist and top Cubs prospect is hitting .265 with one homer, four RBI […]

Orelvis Martinez Picks Up Three More Hits

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop prospect Orelvis Martinez went 3-for-5 with three runs and a double for Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday. Martinez is now hitting ,296 on the young season. The 22-year-old hasn't homered yet, but the power should come as he has 28 or more in the past three seasons on the farm. With Bo […]

Andy Pages Blasts First Homer

Los Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Andy Pages went 3-for-5 with two runs and a two-run homer for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday. The 23-year-old out of Cuba is now hitting a healthy .270 with three RBI and two stolen bases to go along with home run. Pages has shown plenty of power since being signed […]

Colt Emerson Raising His Stock

Seattle Mariners middle infield prospect Colt Emerson went 2-for-4 with a walk and solo home run for Single-A Modesto on Sunday. The club's 2023, first-round pick, Emerson has now homered twice in just three games. The 18-year-old has made a big impression since being selected 22nd overall this past season. In just 24 games between […]

Ethan Salas Swipes Second Stolen Base

San Diego Padres catcher prospect Ethan Salas went 1-for-4 with a stolen base for High-A Fort Wayne on Sunday. The stolen base was his second on the young season and Salas also threw out an attempted base stealer on defense. The 17-year-old phenom saw limited action in the Cactus League, but was eventually reassigned. Despite […]

David Hamilton Goes Yard

Upon his promotion on Sunday, Boston Red Sox shortstop prospect David Hamilton went 2-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and a solo home run. The speedy Hamilton was promoted and drew the start at shortstop with the news that shortstop Trevor Story (shoulder) will be sidelined indefinitely. Hamilton struggled in his first taste of the […]
