Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller

5043 articles

You won't find a bigger Cubs fan than myself. Aside from my love of fantasy sports, which includes MLB, NFL and NBA, I own my own animal care business. I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago and currently reside in Chicago, IL. My love of fantasy sports started for me in the early 2000's and I have steadily been active with the same group of friends year in and year out for every league in baseball, basketball and football. I am hoping to help all RotoBaller members with any questions they may have. I consider myself an expert with minor league prospects, as it is a love of mine. I hope to give the best advice I can to the RotoBaller world!

Caden Dana Having Strong Start To Season

Los Angeles Angels pitching prospect Caden Dana continues to enjoy Double-A Rocket City. On Sunday, the 20-year-old tossed a career-high seven innings. Over those seven frames, he allowed two hits, no runs, one walk and struck out eight. Dana is currently the Angels top pitching prospect and this is his first go around in Double-A. […]

Kyle Manzardo Heating Up

Cleveland Guardians first baseman Kyle Manzardo has started to heat up and had a weekend to remember. Manzardo hit three homers and collected five extra-base hits. After a slow start to the season, the 23-year-old is now hitting .308 with four homers, 10 RBI and an excellent .935 OPS over 18 games for Triple-A Columbus. […]

Kevin Alcantara Hits First Homer

Chicago Cubs outfield prospect Kevin Alcantara went 2-for-4 with a home run on Wednesday for Double-A Tennessee. The home run would be the first of the year for the 21-year-old. Alcantara has been off to a very slow start this year, hitting just .086 with a stolen base and hopefully Wednesday round-tripper will get him […]

Matt Shaw Off To Impressive Start

Chicago Cubs shortstop prospect Matt Shaw is a name for dynasty managers to take note of, as he has been on fire to open the season for Double-A Tennessee. The Cubs first-round pick of 2023 had a great Spring Training with the club and that has carried over to Tennessee. Over his first nine games, […]

Max Clark Drives In Four

Detroit Tigers outfield prospect Max Clark went 3-for-5 with four RBI for Single-A Lakeland on Wednesday. Clark now has 10 RBI on the season, but is still searching for his first home run. The 19-year-old was the third overall pick in the 2023 draft and is a consensus Top-15 prospect. Clark possesses the ability to […]

Jonathan Cannon Earns No-Decision In Debut

Chicago White Sox pitching prospect Jonathan Cannon earned a no-decision in his big-league debut on Wednesday versus the Kansas City Royals. Cannon, 23, was the first pitcher in the 2022 draft to make his way to the show and he put together a solid performance. Over five innings, Cannon allowed three hits, one run, one […]

Tommy Troy Hits First Homer

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop prospect Tommy Troy went 1-for-4 on Wednesday for High-A Hillsboro. His lone hit would be his first home run of the season. Although he is hitting .188 to start the season, it is nice to see him improving after recovering from a fractured foot this summer. The 12th overall pick in the […]

Kerry Carpenter Picks Up Two Hits

Detroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a double, triple and RBI in Tuesday's victory over the Texas Rangers. Carpenter had a strong game, but was pulled in the bottom of the eighth inning with a lefty on the mound. Carpenter has had a good season with a .302 batting average to go along […]

Jordan Westburg Continues To Ascend

Baltimore Orioles infielder Jordan Westburg continued his strong season on Tuesday versus the Minnesota Twins. Westburg went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in the team's victory. Westburg has quietly been putting up very solid numbers for a strong Orioles offense, but has been overlooked with so much star power in the lineup. On the season, […]

Reynaldo Lopez Continues Success

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez continued his hot start to the season with a victory on Tuesday versus the Houston Astros. Lopez tossed six innings and allowed four hits, no runs, one walk and struck out seven. Lopez has been a reclamation project for the Braves after spending the bulk of his career with […]

Hunter Brown Earns Quality Start

Houston Astros starting pitcher Hunter Brown bounced back into form on Tuesday versus the Atlanta Braves. In his previous start, Brown didn't make it out of the first inning and allowed 11 hits on nine runs. It was a much better performance Tuesday as earned a quality start by going six innings and allowing five […]

Matt Chapman Hits Fourth Home Run

San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's loss versus the Miami Marlins. The veteran is now up to four homers on the season, but is hitting a weak .205. Chapman has never been a big contact hitter with a career ,240 batting average, but the power […]

Logan Gilbert Earns First Victory

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert picked up his first victory of the season on Tuesday versus the Cincinnati Reds. Gilbert tossed 6 2/3 innings and allowed three hits, one run, one walk and struck out six on the evening. Although it was his first victory of the season, it doesn't speak to how good […]

Steven Kwan Raises Average With Strong Performance

Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan went 3-for-5 with two runs and a walk in Tuesday's victory against the Boston Red Sox. The leadoff hitter for the Guardians raised his batting average to an astounding .372 with the strong effort. All three hits were singles, but a hit is a hit. Kwan has been scorching hot […]

Triston Casas Stays Hot

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas stayed hot with a 2-for-4 performance in Tuesday's contest versus the Cleveland Indians. He also drew a walk and homered for the fifth time this season. Casas was a popular name heading into draft day this season and he has backed that up by hitting .258 with five […]

Landon Knack Set To Make Debut On Wednesday

Los Angeles Dodgers pitching prospect Landon Knack will make his big-league debut on Wednesday versus the Washington Nationals. The 26-year-old is one of the Dodgers top pitching prospects and has made four starts for Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. In those starts, he has produced a 4.02 ERA with 16 strikeouts and four walks. Knack […]

Rangers Set To Promote Jack Leiter

The Texas Rangers are promoting pitching prospect Jack Leiter to the big-league club to debut on Thursday versus the Detroit Tigers. The former first-round pick has had a nice season for Triple-A Round Rock with a 3.77 ERA in three games (two starts). He has been a strikeout artist on the farm with 25 of […]

Matt Mervis Off To Hot Start

Chicago Cubs first base prospect Matt Mervis has been off to a nice start for Triple-A Iowa this season. The first baseman didn't break camp with the club, but has responded with a .333 batting average to go along with four homers and 10 RBI over his first 48 at-bats. Mervis has shown plenty of […]

Mason Montgomery Looks To Improve On Tuesday

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitching prospect Mason Montgomery will look to improve in his fourth start of the season on Tuesday for Triple-A Durham. The left-hander has been off to a rocky start this season with a 10.80 ERA in three starts and has gotten worst in each outing. The lefty is the Rays top […]

Mitchell Parker Earns Victory In Debut

Washington Nationals starting pitcher prospect Mitchell Parker picked up the victory in his big-league debut versus the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday evening. Parker, 24, got the daunting task of facing one of the toughest lineups in the league, but held his own. Over five innings, Parker allowed four hits, two runs, zero walks and […]

Nick Nastrini Solid In Debut

Chicago White Sox pitching prospect Nick Nastrini performed well in his big-league debut versus the Kansas City Royals on Monday. Nastrini suffered the loss, but didn't look overmatched in his first outing. The right-hander went five innings and allowed three hits, two runs, two walks and five strikeouts. Nastrini should be expected to remain in […]

Dodgers To Promote Andy Pages

The Los Angeles Dodgers are calling up outfield prospect Andy Pages. Pages, 23, receives the promotion after hitting a ridiculous .371 with five home runs, 15 RBI and two stolen bases in 62 at-bats for Triple-A Oklahoma City. The Cuban product has recovered in a strong way from a torn labrum that shortened his 2023 […]

Ben Brown Earns Quality Start

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Ben Brown earned his first quality start of his career in a no-decision on Monday versus the Arizona Diamondbacks. Brown went six innings and allowed one hit, one run, two walks and struck out four on the evening. The rookie has been very impressive since filling in for the injured Justin […]

Tony Kemp Signs With Twins

Jon Heyman of the MLB Network is reporting that infielder Tony Kemp has agreed to a minor-league deal with the Minnesota Twins. The veteran spent Opening Day with the Baltimore Orioles, but was recently let go in favor of top prospect Jackson Holliday. In his brief time with the Orioles, Kemp was hitless in nine […]

Jonah Heim Gets Day Off

Texas Rangers catcher Jonah Heim will get a routine day off on Tuesday versus the Detroit Tigers. With the Rangers playing last night, Heim will get the afternoon to rest his knees. Heim has been off to a nice start this season with a .271 batting average to go along with two homers and 11 […]

Sonny Gray Improves To 2-0

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Sonny Gray posted another strong outing on Monday versus his former team, the Oakland Athletics. Gray went six scoreless innings and allowed four hits with no walks and six strikeouts. Gray missed the beginning of the season with a hamstring injury, but he has not missed a beat in his […]

Esteury Ruiz Provides Only Offense For A's

After being recalled from Triple-A earlier in the day, Oakland Athletics outfielder Esteury Ruiz provided the team with its only offense in Monday's loss versus the St. Louis Cardinals. Ruiz only got one at-bat in the contest as he was summoned to pinch-hit for outfielder Lawrence Butler in the bottom of the eight inning, but […]

Luis Arraez Picks Up Three Hits

Miami Marlins infielder Luis Arraez went 3-for-4 with three singles in Monday's loss versus the San Francisco Giants. The strong performance raises his batting average to .284. Arraez was a breakout star last season with Miami as he hit .324 with 10 homers and 69 RBI, but has started slow in 2024. For the season […]

Seth Lugo Improves To 3-0

Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Seth Lugo improved to 3-0 with a victory against the Chicago White Sox on Monday. Lugo tossed seven innings on scoreless ball and allowed four hits with one walk and four strikeouts. It was the second time this season that Lugo has earned a quality start against his division foe. […]

Gunnar Henderson Hits Fourth Homer

Baltimore Orioles third baseman Gunnar Henderson went 2-for-4 with a walk and home run in Monday's victory against the Minnesota Twins. The home run would be his fourth of the season. In addition, he is hitting .250 with 11 RBI, 11 runs and four stolen bases. The young shortstop had a fabulous rookie campaign in […]
