The Carolina Panthers acquired cornerback Stephon Gilmore in a trade with the New England Patriots on Wednesday. The Patriots will receive a 2023 sixth-round pick in return. New England was prepared to release Gilmore after failing to agree to a contract extension, and he'll miss at least the first six games of the season. But when healthy, Gilmore is one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, and the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year will make Carolina's defense that much more formidable when he gets back on the field. The 31-year-old's numbers weren't quite as good in 2020, but he could do some damage in the Panthers secondary in the second half of the season. In the meantime, the Panthers defense will be a low-end streaming option in a Week 5 contest with the Philadelphia Eagles.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
