UCL DFS Lineup Picks for FanDuel (3/10/21) - UEFA Champions League Soccer

RotoBaller soccer expert Vince Dray breaks down the UCL DFS slate for FanDuel on 3/10/21.

Hello, RotoBallers! At the end of the day, we will have two more teams who join FC Porto and Borussia Dortmund in the UCL quarterfinals. We have another two-game UCL slate for our pleasure on Wednesday to go along with a single-game EPL slate. I have an article up on the RotoBaller website for that game as well if you're playing both slates today. I have another full breakdown for you covering this slate. Keep reading this breakdown for my DFS soccer picks on RotoBaller and see how to have success on Wednesday's slate.

The large majority of my DFS content will be EPL or UCL-related, however, there is always more soccer DFS to cover. If you want to chop it up with myself and other RotoBaller writers about non-EPL/UCL leagues or other sports, consider becoming a premium member and joining our ever-growing community of DFS and fantasy sports enthusiasts! We have had some great conversations in the Premium Slack chat about the past few UCL slates.

You can also get access to my brain for questions and edits to lineups for Tuesday. In this article, I will be providing you with my UEFA Champions League daily fantasy soccer lineup picks for FanDuel on 3/10/21 for the slate that locks at 3:00 pm ET. Be sure to also check out our other DFS lineup picks for other active sports. You can always find me on Twitter @vdray5 if you have any questions. Good luck, RotoBallers!

UCL DFS Lineup Picks - Overview

Liverpool vs Leipzig

Liverpool (+145) cannot seem to find good form in any competition outside of the Champions League. They suffered a 1-0 loss to a poor Fulham side over the weekend which dropped them down to 8th on the table. They were also in pretty poor form prior to traveling to Hungary for the first leg of this matchup, however, they pulled out a good 2-0 win over Leipzig with two crucial away goals. Liverpool can now advance to the quarterfinals with any draw and several different loss scores. As long as they score, Leipzig will need to score four to put themselves through which can be a difficult task at times against Liverpool. This game could feature a lot of Liverpool defending and slowing the game down. The goal total over/under is 3.0.

PSG vs Barcelona

PSG (+145) come back home after smoking Barcelona 4-1 in Spain. PSG's four away goals is going to make it brutally difficult for Barcelona to advance to the next round. However, the two teams played in the same round in 2017. PSG won the first leg 4-0 and subsequently lost the away leg 6-1, and Barcelona was able to advance miraculously. PSG will be hoping history does not repeat itself, but they should feel more comfortable this time around with a home game Wednesday and four away goals already. PSG can lose this game 3-0 and still advance. If they can score even one goal, it will be an essentially insurmountable hill for Barcelona to climb. The goal total over/under is 3.5.

FanDuel DFS Forwards / Midfielders

Lionel Messi ($24) deserves to be the first player mentioned in this breakdown. Barcelona are in a massive hole as they head to France for the away leg of this matchup, and Messi will need a spectacular game if Barcelona has any hopes of advancing in this competition. Messi has a great floor with his ability to create chances and get SOGs. He should be doing everything he can and these stats should be plentiful for him in this game. He is also in nice goal-scoring form with seven goals and four assists in his last seven games in all competitions. Messi has -140 anytime scoring odds, and he is facing a PSG defense that might not be on their A-game given the aggregate score after the first leg.

Liverpool's defense has been no where near as good as last season, and with Leipzig needing goals, I'm ready to attack them. They've been scored on by several weaker teams in the last few months in the Premier League which gives Leipzig some hope here. They will need at least a 2-0 result after regulation to force extra time in Liverpool. Christopher Nkunku ($15) is a great mid-tier play here. He is third on the team in goals this year with seven and also has five assists. Additionally, he is second on the team in SOGs/90 and chances created per game. Aside from Nkunku, Yussuf Poulsen ($16) leads the team in goals this year and has the best anytime scoring odds on the team at +200.

Staying in this same game, Mo Salah ($20) has the best anytime scoring odds in this game at -125. He and Liverpool will be searching for a goal that would put some heavy pressure on Leipzig. Leipzig's defense has been really strong home and away all season, but Liverpool was able to score twice on them in the first leg and definitely have that kind of potential here. Diogo Jota ($17) can provide some cheaper Liverpool exposure. He can be a nice pivot from Salah and can have a nice fantasy game without scoring a goal.

Kylian Mbappe ($22) also needs to be mentioned here. He scored a hattrick against Barcelona the first time out to give him nine goals in his last eight starts. Barcelona will need to press for goals which can leave their defense out of position. Mbappe has the speed and talent to take advantage of that and should be considered one of the top options on this slate.

Amadou Haidara ($11) will start for an injured Angelino ($14) on the left wing for Leipzig and can provide some value here. Even Tyler Adams ($7) is viable playing in an attacking position for a team that must score on Wednesday to advance.

FanDuel DFS Defenders

Jordi Alba ($14) is an elite pay-up option on this slate. Barcelona has a big deficit to try and erase from a 4-1 loss in the first leg. One way to create some offense is to get Alba involved early and often in their attack. Alba is one of the better attacking wingbacks in Europe and has the stats to prove it. He has five goals and nine assists to go along with 1.7 chances created per game. He should be on his best during this game as Barcelona press for goals.

Playing on opposite ends of the pitch, Fabinho ($12) and Dayot Upamecano ($12) should both be busy racking up defensive stats trying to prevent the other team from getting chances. They both collect defensive peripherals at a good rate and are strong mid-tier DEF options.

Nat Phillips ($10) and Lukas Kolstermann ($8) can both provide some value at this position.

FanDuel DFS Goalkeepers

Goalkeeper is a little bit of a crapshoot on this slate. Alisson ($14) should see plenty of shots with Leipzig pushing for goals, however, Liverpool can advance without a clean sheet or a win. This makes Alisson pretty risky especially at this price.

Keylor Navas ($11) is probably my favorite play. He should get absolutely bombarded with shots and has a nice floor with those save points. PSG can also win this game, and that bonus would be massive for his fantasy value.

I do not hate Peter Gulacsi ($7) at all especially as the cheapest GK on the slate. Liverpool might sit in a little bit here and be conservative with a 2-0 aggregate lead. Leipzig's defense is also the best in Germany only allowing 0.83 goals per game in the Bundesliga. They can definitely keep Liverpool scoreless and even win the game - even though they might not advance.

Thanks for reading my EPL DFS lineup picks breakdown on RotoBaller and good luck!
