Odubel Herrera Returns To Action Tuesday
Odubel Herrera played in his first game on Tuesday in Grapefruit League action since his arrest on domestic-violence charges two years ago. The former All-Star went 1-for-3 with a single and a stolen base, and manager Joe Girardi said he "looked pretty normal" while playing right field. Herrera last played on May 26, 2019 and was suspended for the rest of that season. He was not part of the 60-player pool for the shortened season in 2020. Herrera will make $10 million this year in the final season of a five-year, $30.5 million deal that includes two options. The 29-year-old is in camp as a non-roster invitee and is trying to earn the trust of his teammates back. There's no guarantee that he'll win a job on the active roster entering the regular season.
