Washington quarterback (QB) Alex Smith is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free agent addition for Week 11 of the 2020 NFL season.
BALLER MOVE: Add in 2QB Leagues
ROSTERED: 5% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Everyone knows the amazing story of Alex Smith's injury recovery that led to his first start in nearly two years, and now a new chapter is being written following the grotesque season-ending injury to Kyle Allen that has left Smith in the driver's seat for Washington for the coming weeks.
The 36-year-old had a brief showing in Week 5against the Rams, but made his first outing of volume in Week Nine against the Giants, and although he tossed three picks, he was also good for 24 of 32 passing for 325 yards and a touchdown.
This past week, the former #1 overall pick got down to business against the Lions, completing 38 of 55 passes for 390 yards, and supplemented his absence of touchdown passes with a zero-interception performance. With the consideration of age and injury history, this is still the guy that was one of the most accurate, sleepy rushing threats at quarterback, throwing only 48 interceptions between 2011 and 2018.
As Alex Smith is getting further accustomed to the burgeoning offensive talent in Washington, he offers the promise of a time-tested technician for those in need at the position.
