Outfielder George Springer officially rejected the Houston Astros qualifying offer of $18.9 million for the 2021 season on Wednesday. Springer will now be free to sign with any team. If he signs with a team other than Houston, the Astros would receive draft-pick compensation. He will be hitting free agency for the first time at 31 years of age and will be one of the biggest names on the open market this winter. Springer will be seeking a multi-year deal that could pay him more annually than what he would've received on the qualifying offer. Houston will try to sign their MVP of 2020. He overcame a slow start this year to hit .265 with 14 home runs, 32 RBI and an .899 OPS in 51 games. Springer also hit four home runs in the playoffs, helping the Astros get within one win from reaching the World Series for the second straight season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
