DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/2/20) - MLB DFS Lineups

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 8/2/20. Frank Ammirante's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

It's Sunday, so get ready for an afternoon filled with baseball. It's a shorter slate with only seven games due to the Reds vs. Tigers doubleheader, but let's take a deep dive to carve out the perfect lineup. Remember to double-check the weather, starting lineups, and postponements before finalizing your roster.

I'll take a look at each position and build a lineup using my favorite plays on the slate. Our goal here is to take down a GPP and secure a nice return on our investment. Today we'll be stacking the undervalued White Sox so we could fit in a few hitters in that projected Padres/Rockies slugfest. Always remember to stack your hitters to optimize your lineups!

In this article, I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the DraftKings main slate on 8/2/2020. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel and other sports as well.

DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Dylan Cease - P, CHW vs. KC ($8,400)

Cease is coming off disappointing debut where he lasted only 2.1 innings, allowing four earned runs with zero walks and one strikeout. This is a guy I had high hopes for coming into the season, so I'm going to roll him out there given this weak slate of starting pitchers. Cease boasts a nice changeup (.180 xwOBA, 3.5 pitchVAL) and wipe-out slider (.232 xwOBA, 3.2 pitchVAL). Let's hope that he has his off-speed stuff working in this one. We can expect him to be low-owned given his poor debut and relatively high price.

Kyle Wright - P, ATL vs. NYM ($6,200)

We'll take a shot here on one of the Braves' top pitching prospects in Kyle Wright simply because we're fading Aaron Civale ($9,600) against the Twins' stacked lineup as well as Jon Lester ($9,000) because he's way too overpriced. Wright struggled in his first start, lasting only 2.2 innings while allowing five earned runs. This is a risky play against a Mets team that had posted a .334 wOBA against righties coming into Saturday's game, but Wright has the prospect pedigree and strikeout stuff to make him worth a dart throw on a really weak slate of pitchers.

DraftKings DFS Infielders

Yasmani Grandal - C, CHW vs. KC ($4,200)

Grandal is an absolute gift at his price, which ranks seventh among catchers on this slate, behind the likes of Dom Nuñez. Grandal broke out of his season-long slump last night, going 2-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one walk.  He goes up against righty Jakob Junis, who is making his first start of the season, who has recently recovered from COVID-19. This is purely a value play, betting on Grandal's talent at a cheap price.

Jose Abreu - 1B, CHW vs. KC ($3,900)

Abreu is another great value, coming in at $3,900 in a good matchup against Junis. Abreu's priced lower than the likes of Mike Brosseau and Josh Fuentes, making him a steal. The White Sox bats broke out in a big way on Saturday, pounding the Royals for 11 runs on 21 hits. Hitting in the three-hole, Abreu is in a prime spot for run production on a nightly basis. Let's fire him up in Junis' debut.

Ryan McMahon - 2B, COL vs. SD ($4,700)

McMahon is priced high for good reason, hitting in Coors in a game with an absurd 13.5 projected total. McMahon had a streak of three consecutive multi-hit games broken on Saturday, but he's in a great spot here against righty Zach Davies. Coming into Saturday's game, McMahon was slashing .353/.429/.412 against right-handed pitching. He's also hitting in the sixth hole, so he'll have some opportunities in this projected slugfest.

Yoan Moncada - 3B, CHW vs. KC ($4,000)

Another underpriced White Sox hitter here, coming in behind the likes of Yandy Diaz and Austin Riley. Moncada is coming off a three-hit game with two runs. Hitting in the two-hole is a fantastic spot in this talented White Sox lineup that goes against a mediocre pitcher in Junis making his season debut. This is another pure value play that will allow us to fit in some more high-priced players in Coors Field.

Trevor Story - SS, COL vs. SD ($6,000)

Story is the highest priced hitter on the slate, but we need to play him here against righty Zach Davies in this projected slugfest. Story has homered in consecutive games and put up multi-hit games in three of his last five. Our cheap White Sox hitters allow us to pay up for these Rockies, who should have no problem getting to Davies tomorrow.

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Tommy Pham - OF, SD vs. COL ($5,100)

We'll take another piece of the action in Coors here with another nice value play in Pham, who is priced below David Dahl despite being more productive this year. Pham already has five stolen bases, which raises his ceiling on a nightly basis. He has multi-hit games in two of his last three, so he's starting to get hot. Pham takes on Antonio Senzatela, a righty who put up a 6.21 ERA and 1.64 WHIP at home last season. Fire him up!

Eloy Jimenez - OF, CHW vs. KC ($3,700)

Eloy broke out in a big way on Saturday, going 4-6 with one home run and four RBI. He's one of the best values on the board, priced less than hitters like Yangervis Solarte. We'll add Jimenez to our White Sox stack and hope they keep swinging the sticks after a big night on Saturday. This is simply way too cheap for us to pass up here against Junis.

Luis Robert - OF, CHW vs. KC ($3,600)

Like Eloy, Robert smashed on Saturday, going 4-6 with one home run and two RBI. Also like his fellow teammate, he's ridiculously underpriced. Robert is now hitting in the leadoff spot with the injury to shortstop Tim Anderson, so he's in an absolutely fantastic spot. He's been absolutely tearing the cover off the ball, so there's a decent chance that this could be the start of a hot streak.
