Twins To Decline Martin Perez's Option
Martin Perez, making him a free agent. They'll instead pay him a $500,000 buyout. The 28-year-old left-hander finished 10-7 with a 5.12 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 135 strikeouts in 165 1/3 innings over 29 starts and three relief outings for the Twins in 2019. With a well below-average 5.8 career K/9 in eight seasons, Perez is strictly a single-universe streamer in the right matchups. He won't be guaranteed a rotation spot with another team on the open market this winter.
