Yu Darvish Won't Opt Out Of Contract
Yu Darvish will not opt out of his deal with the Cubs with $81 million and four years left on his contract. The Japanese right-hander started slow because of injuries but had a 0.81 WHIP, 2.76 ERA and .199 opponent's average in the second half of the season. Overall, Darvish went 6-8 with a 3.98 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 229 strikeouts in 178 2/3 innings (31 starts) for the Cubbies. Injuries are always an issue for him, but Darvish clearly can be effective for fantasy owners when he's healthy. His successful second half could raise his draft price in 2020, but he'll still be a high-risk/high-reward fantasy arm.
