Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard did a great job in Friday's 2-1 home loss against the Winnipeg Jets, allowing just two goals on 40 shots. However, the offense was unable to give him much in the way of goal support. After some ugly performances early on, he has settled down a bit and allowed three or fewer goals in each of his past four starts since getting pulled in a rout at Montreal on Oct. 15. The offense is still a little weak and won't give him much in the way of support, but Howard isn't a bad spot starter when the matchup is favorable.--Daniel Dobish
