Kenta Maeda An Option In Closer's Role?
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Kenta Maeda could be moved to the bullpen after his start against the Rockies on Friday with closer Kenley Jansen out for a month with an irregular heartbeat. The Dodgers could use Maeda in the ninth inning to share save chances with reliever Scott Alexander. Maeda has been solid as a starter for fantasy owners, going 7-7 with a 3.73 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 123 K's in 103 2/3 innings, and he should be owned in all formats. A move to the bullpen, however, would hurt most of his value, although he could still be useful to fantasy owners if he sees some save chances. With Hyun-Jin Ryu (groin) returning soon, the Dodgers will have some shuffling to do with their rotation.
