While All-Star reliever Dellin Betances has pitched better than he did early on in the season, one thing has become quite clear about how he should be used. The 30-year-old is starting to shown signs that using him for a second inning is not a good idea. Betances pitched into his second inning of work on Thursday in the series finale against the Boston Red Sox, the third time this season he went over an inning. In those three appearances, he’s surrendered six runs, taking the loss against Boston after allowing the go-ahead home run. Prior to his two most recent appearances, the native New Yorker had tossed four consecutive scoreless innings in relief.--RDelgado
