Week 6 Sits And Starts - Sorensen's Matchup Analysis

Joe Sorensen covers his top sits and starts for fantasy football Week 6, using his matchup-based analysis. This week he focuses on wide receivers.

Sammie Coates. Brandon Lafell. Adam Theilen. Did you start any of these wide receivers? These were three of the top-six point scoring wideouts for Week 5. Unexpected? Yes. Improbable? Yes. Unpredictable? Absolutely.

With bye weeks now in full swing, it's important to find players like the aforementioned three to help you win your fantasy league. Now, it is all about digging deeper than your normal starters. Whether it was your round 15 draft pick or a pick up on the waiver wire, these may be the players who will have the biggest impact on your team. Who is this week’s Sammie Coates?

*Remember: These columns do not include your every-week starters. For this week, players like Antonio Brown, DeAndre Hopkins and Jarvis Landry are not considered. This article goes deeper than that.

Best Start Possible - Terrelle Pryor Sr @ TEN

This has been one of the most interesting plays of the season. After Week 1 and Week 2 matchups against the Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens, Pryor had six catches, 100 yards and no TDs. In the three games since, he has 18 catches for 238 yards for a TD.  Week 6 he goes against the Tennessee Titans - the team that shut down Dolphins WR Jarvis Landry last week. But, who else do the Cleveland Browns have to throw to? No one. This means that Pryor should continue to eat up targets in this offense, especially down the field against a still questionable defense.

Quality Start - Cameron Meredith v. JAX

Who? Let’s agree that this guy came out of nowhere to become one of the highest-scoring WRs last week. For his CAREER, Meredith has 26 receptions for 302 yards with a TD. Last week against the Indianapolis Colts, he had nine catches, 130 yards and a TD. Almost half of his career stats came last week. But, now he gets to improve those numbers against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This is a team that surrendered a line of 7/42/1 to T.Y. Hilton of the Colts and 8/87/0 to Steve Smith of the Ravens. As for the Chicago Bears offense, Eddie Royal and Alshon Jeffery have not been as productive as one would hope. Meredith has become the target hog that Kevin White was before his injury. This should continue this week.

Worst Possible Start - Mohammed Sanu @ SEA

Of course, you may think that starting anyone against the Seattle Seahawks and the Legion of Boom is not a smart decision. While this is true, this decision also has to do with the terrible play of Sanu since the Week 1 opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. To put his stats in perspective, in four games since his explosive debut with Atlanta, Sanu has 11 catches (18 targets) for 115 scoreless yards. And, this is supposed to be the guy that can take the pressure off of Julio Jones? Suggestion? The Falcons need to consider drafting a WR in the first round next year. Just stay away from Sanu.

Not a Good Start - Quincy Enunwa @ ARI

While this may seem like a quality start with the season-ending injury to Eric Decker, this is a trap game for Enunwa. In the two games without Decker already, Enunwa has 10 catches for 111 yards and no TDs. Yes, those games were against the Seahawks and a surging Pittsburgh Steelers defense, but the targets have been there. Now, the New York Jets and the struggling Ryan Fitzpatrick, head into Arizona to face the league's fourth-ranked pass defense. In PPR leagues, Enunwa may get you close to double-digit points, but it is hard to trust him to get into the end zone; something he has not done since the opening week of the season.

Next week, we look again at one of the thinnest position in terms of fantasy football: tight end. Outside of the greats today, there have to be some tight ends worthy of starting on your fantasy team, especially with bye weeks in full effect.
