Yesterday's Studs and Duds: Fantasy Baseball Recap from 6/7/16

Every day, we will be taking a quick look at the best and worst fantasy baseball performers from yesterday's games.
Lots of good stuff to cover in this one: brawls, tanks, and red commie pinkos galore. Well, no commie pinkos I suppose, but Reds, certainly a few Reds to cover. Let's get started.

Editor’s Note: to read about even more waiver wire options, be sure to check out our famous waiver wire pickups list which is a running list that is updated daily. Prefer using your phone? Our free waiver wire app is available for download in the Apple Store.

STUDS

Billy Hamilton (CIN, OF) - Hamilton had three hits, a home run, and stole two bases against the Cardinals. With seven steals in his last ten games, it's almost as if he's trying to convince owners that he does not belong on the bench.  Don't let him fool you.

Adam Duvall (CIN, OF) - That's 17 HR for those counting at home - seven in his last 43 at-bats. Sweet sassy-molassy that's a lot of jacks.

Mark Trumbo (BAL, OF) - Pssh, 17.....Try 20.

Chris Carter (MIL, 1B) - Carter's two mammoth blasts to center were nice, but let's not forget he's batting a paltry .227 on the year.

Nelson Cruz (SEA, OF) - Not to be outdone, Cruz added two jacks of his own to the party. I'm told they were nice.

Brian Dozier (MIN, 2B) - We stay on the theme of home runs - this time, the walk-off variety. Dozier's two-run shot ended things in a hurry for the wins-starved Twins. Now batting .211, he continues to hover just above the Men-Dozier Line. Eh, get it? Men-Dozier? Never mind.

Jerad Eickhoff (PHI, SP) - Eickhoff pitched like a German Panzer tank on Tuesday - efficiently firing high-powered baseballs at unsuspecting Cubs hitters. Technically, the Cubs hitters were expecting baseballs to be thrown in their general vicinity, but certainly not that effectively. Eickhoff fired seven innings of two-hit ball, allowing one run and striking out eight.

Aaron Sanchez (TOR, SP) - If Eickhoff was the Panzer, Sanchez was the much-superior Sherman tank ('merica!). The Jays offense did not do enough to help Sanchez get the win, but owners won't complain too much about a 8 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 12 K line.

Zach Greinke (ARI, SP) - Greinke went the distance Tuesday night, lowering his ERA to a season-low 3.84 in the process. The three strikeouts were a bit lacking so there will be no tank comparisons forthcoming.

Joey Votto (CIN, 1B) -Don't look now, but the Joey Votto Everything-Is-Going-To-Be-Alright Renaissance Tour is in full swing. Votto ended Tuesday's game with a monstrous walk-off homer to center field. His last ten games have seen him hit four bombs and roll out a very Votto-esque .391 OBP.

DUDS

Tony Cingrani (CIN, RP) - The undercard for the Joey Votto Big Fly Bonanza was the Tony Cingrani Flaming Gas Can Show. Cingrani coughed up three hits and two runs, nearly blowing the game for the Reds until the aforementioned hero of the day made his presence known.

Joe Ross (WAS, SP) - 4 IP, 4 H, 5 ER, 4 BB - This is not the Joe Ross we know and love.

Yoenis Cespedes (NYM, OF) - Cespedes' day got off to a shaky start and finished in quite the same manner as he stumbled his way through an 0-for-7 day with 2 K as part of the doubleheader.

Byron Buxton (MIN, OF) - Buxton's 0-for-4, 3 K performance triggered many unpleasant flashbacks to the terrible pre-demotion version of Buxton. It's one game though, he's fine. Right? Right??

Manny Machado (BAL, 3B) vs. Yordano Ventura (KC, SP) - After throwing at Machado earlier in the game, Ventura managed to plunk him in the fifth, leading to a landed haymaker by Machado and most certainly a suspension that will soon be levied. For Ventura, it was probably refreshing just to be lit up by something other than baseballs for once.
