NHL DFS Lineup Picks (3/7/16): FanDuel & DraftKings Daily Fantasy Hockey Advice

Demetri Raftopoulos DFS advice for 3/7/16. Daily Fantasy Hockey Lineup Picks and sleepers for FanDuel & DraftKings NHL cash games and GPPs.

Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for Monday, March 7th of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.

Seven games make up Monday's slate, all of which have plenty appeal to Daily Fantasy and to the approaching postseason. Florida and Boston square off, separated by only a point in the Atlantic Division standings. The Flyers host the first place Lightning, just four points out of the second wild card spot in the Eastern Conference. And the Washington Capitals visit the surging Anaheim Ducks.

Tonight's lineup features two goalies looking to take advantage of their intriguing matchups, some big names, and plenty of value plays that will help free up cap space. For updated goalie confirmations, check out leftwinglock.com.

NHL DFS Picks for Monday, March 7th

A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.

For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi point upside and can grab double digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.

Let's take a look at some solid plays for today's action.

Chad Johnson - Goaltender, Sabres (DraftKings - $6,900 FanDuel - $8,100)

Johnson heads into a dream matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the team with the fewest points in the NHL. Johnson has won his past two starts and is probable to be in between the pipes on Monday. The Maple Leafs give up the eighth most goals and score the second fewest goals a game in the league. Johnson should have no problem picking up his third straight win.

Martin Jones - Goaltender, Sharks (DraftKings - $7,600 FanDuel - $8,700)

Jones also benefits from a solid matchup, as the Sharks visit the Calgary Flames. Jones is having a tremendous season, already winning 32 games to his 17 losses, combined with a 2.32 goals against average and .917 save percentage. Jones has won three starts in a row, allowing only five goals over that span. Jones is cheaper than someone like Braden Holtby, but has just as much upside as the league's leading netminder.

Jack Eichel - Center, Sabres (DraftKings - $5,900 FanDuel - $5,900)

Eichel is second on the Sabres in points and power play points, and should have plenty of opportunities to post some against the Maple Leafs. Eichel has put up three points in two games, including goals in both. All three points came via the power play. Eichel also averaged five shots on goal a game in that span. He holds more value on FanDuel because of his productivity on the power play but should be considered on both DFS sites.

Joe Thornton - Center, Sharks (DraftKings - $5,700 FanDuel - $6,600)

The 17 year veteran is only three points shy of passing his total from last season, and is well on pace to sneak into the 70-point plateau. Thornton's 62 points (15 goals, 47 assists) leads the Sharks, and like his goalie mentioned above, will have more than enough openings to light the lamp or tally more points. Calgary allows 3.12 goals a game, tied for most in the league. Thornton has picked up a point in four straight, five total over that span.

Jarome Iginla - Winger, Avalanche (DraftKings - $4,700 FanDuel - $5,500)

Iginla turned back the clock quite a bit in February, and like Thornton, is having quite the season well into his 19th year in the NHL. Last month, Iginla posted 12 points, five goals and seven assists, and will look to continue the same type of production as spring and the playoffs approach hand in hand. Iginla has already scored one goal and tallied one assist in three games early into March. The goal came via the power play. Iginla enters a solid matchup against the Arizona Coyotes, the team tied with the Flames for allowing the most goals per game in the league.

T.J. Oshie - Winger, Capitals (DraftKings - $5,500 FanDuel - $5,400)

Oshie is having a very solid season in his first year as a Washington Capital, and an even better start to the month. Oshie has already posted five points four games into the new month, two goals and three assists; three came on the power play. Oshie is on the ice around 17 minutes a night and puts the puck on net consistently as well. Oshie is a solid option for both DraftKings and FanDuel, and should be heavily considered on the latter considering his steady and productive play on special teams.

Radko Gudas - Defenseman, Flyers (DraftKings - $3,900 FanDuel - $4,500)

Gudas is coming off an incredibly impressive four point performance in Philadelphia's 6-0 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets. This could seem like quite the fluke, considering Gudas only has 10 points on the entire season, but the young defenseman has already surpassed his season high total for points in a month, two games into March. He's a gamble but when guys produce the way he did in a single night, they'll likely get a bit more time on the ice. Gudas already plays around 20 minutes a night and has 11 shots on goal in the past two games.

Hampus Lindholm - Defenseman, Ducks (DraftKings - $4,500 FanDuel - $4,600)

Lindholm is on a three game point streak, picking up an assist against the Canadiens, Coyotes, and Kings. Two assists came on the advantage. Lindholm is also capable of putting the puck on net often and tallying plenty of blocked shots. He is on the ice for close to 25 minutes a night and will be in a competitive matchup against the Capitals. Lindholm has plenty of upside in both DraftKings and FanDuel, as his ability to block shots is complimented by his production on the power play.
