Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for February 25th of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.

We have a large 10 game slate tonight with no teams playing on back to back nights. There are three teams(ARI, CBJ, NSH) who are playing a third game in four nights.

There is a large selection of elite goaltenders tonight with some excellent matchups. If you are having trouble deciding between two guys, try and target the team at home and pay attention to shots against by the team. Saves are really important in helping provide a goalie with a solid floor.

NHL DFS Picks for Thursday, February 25th

A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.

For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find payers who have multi point upside and can grab double digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.

Let's take a look at some solid plays for today's action.

Jonathan Quick - Goaltender, Kings (Draftkings - $8,400  FanDuel - $8,600)

He is coming off two straight wins and has only allowed more than two goals once in his last seven games. When targeting a goalie you are not only looking for the win(Kings are big favorite at home vs. EDM), you are also looking saves. The Kings have given up 30+ shots against in four of their last five games. He is safe in any format tonight.

Jordan Staal - Center, Hurricanes (DraftKings - $4,500  FanDuel - $6,500)

Targeting the Leafs has been a terrific way to start a lineup lately. Their defense is a sieve as they have allowed 39 goals in their last eight games. Staal has been red hot since the All Star break with 12 points in 10 games. His best value comes on DraftKings where is drastically under priced.

Patrick Sharp - Winger, Stars (DraftKings - $6,600  FanDuel - $5,800)

Skating on a line with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn never hurts your upside. With those high priced stars a bit inconsistent it is a wise option in cash games to pivot to the cheapest linemate to get exposure to a high scoring line without too much salary risk. Dallas also has a great matchup at home vs. the Jets who have lost four straight and seven of their last 10 games.

Kyle Palmieri - Winger, Devils (DraftKings - $5,300  FanDuel - $5,000)

He makes a terrific value play on both sites as his salary continues to sit around the $5K range. He has a goal in three of his last four games and now has 40 points on the season for the lowest scoring team in the league. The Devils have been a solid road team this year and get a great matchup on Thursday vs. Blue Jackets who rank 29th in goals allowed this season.

Nick Leddy - Winger, Islanders (DraftKings - $4,500  FanDuel - $4,900)

An affordable option on the point tonight who gets a ton of opportunity on the powerplay. He has nine points(four on the PP) in his last 10 games and added 17 blocked shots(bonus on DraftKings). He gets the bulk of the minutes(2:48 a game) for the Isles on the powerplay and will provide nice upside in a matchup vs. the Flames tonight.
