Daily Fantasy Hockey Lineup Picks: FanDuel & DraftKings NHL DFS Advice for 2/13/16

Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Hockey (NHL DFS) lineup picks article for February 13th of the 2015/2016 NHL season. Each day we'll be providing you with a handful of forward, defensemen, and goaltender picks for DraftKings and FanDuel GPP and cash games.

It's a busy day in the NHL on Saturday with two afternoon games, leaving us eight games for the night slate.  Four teams (CAR, ARI, FLA, NSH) are playing on back to back nights and two teams (OTT, ARI) playing a third game in four nights. It is shaping up to be another great night to make multiple lineups in large field tournaments. There is a range of value in goaltenders from high priced elite guys(Holtby/Crawford) to low priced value (Talbot/Montoya/Korpisalo).

For updated goalie confirmations, you can check out leftwinglock.com. Let's get to it!

NHL DFS Picks for Saturday, February 13th

A couple strategy notes. For cash game construction look for players who can contribute to your score when they are not providing offense. Examples are guys who take a ton of shots, defensemen who block a lot of shots(DraftKings). Also, look for guys who get powerplay time and especially Top 6 forwards. You can find value in players who join a new line due to an injury or just get a promotion and more ice time.

For large field tournaments (GPP's) you want to find players who have multi point upside and can grab double digit fantasy points. To stack the most upside in your forwards a common strategy is to punt the defense position. This doesn't mean just grab anyone. Try and look for a D man who will be playing more PP time or might get a boost in overall playing time due to an injury.

Stacking is also a must if you are to win or consistently cash in any format. For cash games a few two player stacks spreads the risk while two full line stacks has raise your ceiling for tournaments.

Let's take a look at some solid plays for today's action.

Corey Crawford - Goaltender, Blackhawks(DraftKings - $8,400  FanDuel - $9,800)

Crawford will be facing the Ducks for a third time this season winning both previous meetings. In those games he has allowed two goals and recorded a shutout. He has had the Ducks number since leading the comeback in last year's playoffs. He has been terrific this year with a 31-14-2 record and .929 save % which falls into the Top 5 in that category. Look for another strong outing on Saturday night. He is safe in any format.

John Tavares - Center, Islanders (Draftkings - $7,900  FanDuel - $9,000)

He could be worth paying up for tonight and could possibly be a contrarian play with all the value at center tonight. He has been playing his best hockey of the season lately with 13 points and 40 shots on goal in his previous 10 games. The Islanders are in a great spot Saturday as road favorites vs. the Hurricanes playing on back to back nights.

Mark Stone - Winger, Senators (DraftKings - $5,600  FanDuel - $5,000)

A very affordable option playing on the Senators second line who has carried the offense since the All Star break. In six February games he has recorded six goals, three assists, and 18 shots on goal. He is a great value play tonight in a potential high scoring game vs. the Blue Jackets who are ranked 30th in goals allowed per game.

Kyle Okposo - Winger, Islanders (DraftKings - $5,900  FanDuel - $6,600)

Another Islanders player directly responsible for the teams success this year. He has 43 points in 51 games this year but continues to struggle defensively and holds a -9 rating. While he isn't playing on a line with Tavares he still makes a nice stacking option as the two play together on the teams top powerplay unit.

Nick Leddy - Defense, Islanders (DraftKings - $4,500  FanDuel - $4,900)

To complete the Islanders stack tonight you are going to want Leddy for a few reasons. First of all, he has points in three of his last four games including three assists against Edmonton. He is the Islanders main powerplay D man getting close to 3:00 a game. Add to it he comes in under $5K on both sites and you have yourself a terrific play in any format on Saturday.
