DraftStreet's Best Bargains for NFL Week 5
Alex Smith QB-KC ($11,447) - Smith is well on his way to setting career-high marks in passing yards, completions and touchdowns in his first season with Kansas City under head coach Andy Reid. The top overall pick of the 2005 draft has led the Chiefs to a 4-0 start while completing over 20 passes every time out and throwing for at least two touchdowns on three different occasions. The former 49er has also added 151 yards on the ground to his season totals. Even against a tough Titans defense, Smith is a bargain considering that he is priced behind 16 of his colleagues at the quarterback position.
Rashad Jennings RB-OAK ($6,575) - With Darren McFadden officially listed as doubtful for tonight's game versus the Chargers, Jennings is on deck to carry the load for the Raiders. Last week, the big back racked up 116 yards of offense in the loss to the Redskins. Much of the former seventh-round pick's value comes from his ability in the passing game. Including the eight he hauled in against Washington, Jennings has caught all 11 of his targets this season. Jennings could be in store for solid across-the-board production in Week Five.
Kris Durham WR-DET ($5,022) - Quarterback Matt Stafford appears more than ready to make his former University of Georgia teammate a bigger part of the passing attack in Detroit. With fellow wide receiver Nate Burleson injured, Durham hauled in three of the four targets thrown his way for a total of 58 yards against the Bears last Sunday. He is now averaging north of 20 yards per catch on his five receptions this season. Standing at 6' 6", the it seems likely that the the 25-year-old will become one of Stafford's most popular red zone targets.
Jermaine Gresham TE-CIN ($4,531) - Gresham might not be turning in many big plays so far on the season, but the fourth-year pro has grabbed at least three passes in every game while averaging a half-dozen targets. The Falcons' Tony Gonzalez torched the Patriots' defense for 149 yards and two scores last week. Gresham is obviously not on the same level as the future hall of famer, but he is certainly worth a shot against a team that does not appear very apt to stopping opposing tight ends.
