Brenen Thompson 2026 Fantasy Football Outlook: DeSean Jackson 2.0?
Mike McDaniel essentially handpicked Brennen Thompson to run the Chargers' offense. If fantasy managers are looking for a sleeper wide receiver with the ability to surpass their ADP, it is Thompson who has McDaniel scheming up play calls similar to what he did for Tyreek Hill in Miami. Thompson may not be on Hill's level, but another favourable comparison is that of DeSean Jackson early in his career. Separation is key to the success of a receiver in the NFL, and Thompson can do so using his speed. In his final year at Mississippi State, Thompson turned 57 receptions into 1,054 yards. An average of 18.5 per reception, putting that 4.26 40-yard time on tape every time he stepped on the field. Look for Thompson to be a bye week replacement for fantasy managers seeking upside, as Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, Tre' Harris, Oronde Gadsden, and David Njoku all remain ahead of the rookie on the depth chart. That said, those playing in best ball leagues could have themselves a league winner in Thompson, who has all the tools necessary to win a week single-handedly.
