Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 8:
Jaxson Dart, QB, New York Giants
Since taking over as his team's starter in Week 4, New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart has flashed significant fantasy upside. In four starts, the 22-year-old has completed 60.2% of his pass attempts for 791 yards, seven touchdowns, and three interceptions.
Perhaps most encouragingly, Dart has rushed for 178 yards and three scores on 37 attempts so far this season. Dart's ability to use his legs appears to be a feature of his game, as he's rushed for at least 50 yards or a touchdown in three out of four starts.
Dart profiles as a low-end starter in single-quarterback formats and a must-start player in two-quarterback formats heading into a Week 8 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Tyler Warren, TE, Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren caught four of five targets for 60 yards and a touchdown in the Colts' 38-24 win over the Chargers. Warren continues an excellent start to his career and has already solidified his status as a weekly top tight end option in fantasy.
Indianapolis has arguably featured the league's best offense through the first seven weeks, and Warren leads the way for them with 439 receiving yards.
The rookie should remain a focal point of the Colts' offense as they use him in advantageous spots to showcase his elite yards-after-catch ability. He'll remain a top-five option headed into Week 8 against the Titans.
Tez Johnson, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie wide receiver Tez Johnson has scored in back-to-back games and is in line for increased opportunities with Mike Evans (collarbone) expected to miss most of the season.
The seventh-round rookie out of Oregon has logged a full route share in each of the past two weeks, running a season-high 84% in Week 6 and 74.1% in Week 7 against the Lions. Johnson caught four passes for 58 yards and a touchdown on nine targets in the matchup, tying tight end Cade Otton for the second-most targets on the team.
With Mike Evans sidelined and Chris Godwin's status uncertain as he recovers from a fibula injury, Johnson should continue to see a full-time role in the Buccaneers' offense.
Woody Marks, RB, Houston Texans
Houston Texans running back Woody Marks led the backfield in carries on Monday Night Football, and even though he wasn't very efficient, he saved his fantasy day with a late touchdown as a receiver. Marks played 61% of snaps and had 10 of the team's 15 running back carries against the Seahawks.
He only had 15 rushing yards on those 10 carries, though, while quarterback C.J. Stroud led the team with 25 rushing yards on his two carries. Marks found the end zone on one of his three catches on five targets for 20 receiving yards. While his rushing total is disappointing, his workload is a positive sign moving forward that the fourth-round pick from USC maintains his role in a timeshare.
Nick Chubb will still get early down work, but Marks seems to be the go-to option on passing downs and brings nice RB2 upside as a result. The Texans are home next week against the 49ers.
Harold Fannin Jr., TE, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns tight end Harold Fannin Jr. caught four of his five targets for 36 yards in a 31-6 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 7.
While he turned in a quiet outing, Fannin still wound up leading the Browns in receiving in a game where they passed for just 116 yards on a windy, rainy day in Cleveland. Fannin has been impressive in his rookie season, catching 32 passes for 290 yards and one touchdown through seven games.
With David Njoku (knee) looking iffy for a Week 8 road matchup against the New England Patriots, Fannin could be queued up for a big fantasy day. Treat him as a low-end TE1 this Sunday.
