Jake Walman Suffers Setback
Edmonton Oilers defenseman Jake Walman (undisclosed) has encountered a setback in his recovery from injury, putting his status for Wednesday's season opener against the Calgary Flames in question. Due to an undisclosed injury, Walman saw limited action during the preseason, but he was expected to return to full health in time for the season opener. Now it looks like the Oilers may have to start their campaign without the 29-year-old blue-liner. Following his mid-season arrival from San Jose, Walman had eight points (one goal, seven assists), 80 shots, and 34 blocks in 15 games with the Oilers in 2024-25. Alec Regula could open the season as a top-four piece in the Oilers defense if Walman isn't available.
