Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 3:
Xavier Worthy, WR, Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs wide receivers Xavier Worthy (shoulder) and Jalen Royals (knee) were both limited practice participants on Wednesday, according to head coach Andy Reid. Worthy suffered a full tear of his right labrum in the season-opening loss to the Los Angeles Chargers when he collided with teammate Travis Kelce on the opening series of the game.
He missed the Week 2 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl rematch, but the fact that he's back at practice gives him a chance to play this Sunday against the New York Giants on Sunday night as KC looks for its first 2025 win.
It's good news that the 22-year-old is practicing, but his status could still be in doubt for Week 3, and with the game being on Sunday night this week, Worthy is shaping up as an extremely risky fantasy play. Royals missed the first two games of the season and can remain on the waiver wire in most redraft leagues while being buried on the WR depth chart.
Stefon Diggs, WR, New England Patriots
New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye said on Wednesday that he needs to get wide receiver Stefon Diggs the ball more, while also acknowledging that he needs to "focus on finding open receivers," according to Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald. "I haven't heard Stefon (Diggs) say one thing about 'I need the ball more.'
That is not something that I've ever heard," offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said. Through the first two weeks of the 2025 season, Diggs' 89 receiving yards rank him third on the team, although he's first in targets (12) and first in catches (10).
The 31-year-old veteran is being involved, but it sounds like Maye is looking for more. It's what Diggs' fantasy managers want to hear, and he could be due for a big game in Week 3 against a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has looked long in the tooth.
Davante Adams, WR, Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams caught six of his 13 targets for a team-leading 106 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's Week 2 win over the Tennessee Titans. The Rams vowed to get Adams more involved this week, and that's exactly what happened, as the veteran pass catcher carved out an impressive 39.4 percent target share.
Although he finished with fewer fantasy points than Puka Nacua for the second week in a row, what's more important is that both Nacua and Adams scored at least 22.5 points (PPR). Week 2 showed that the two can easily co-exist in a Matthew Stafford-led offense, which bodes well for their respective fantasy values going forward.
Heading into Week 3 against the Philadelphia Eagles, Puka Nacua is a low-end WR1 while Davante Adams is a mid-to-high WR2. Both have high-end WR1 upside, though.
Bo Nix, QB, Denver Broncos
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix was solid against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday in their 29-28 defeat. He completed 22 of 30 passes for 206 yards, three touchdown passes, one interception, and added 20 yards on the ground on three carries.
Although he played well, the interception he threw in the fourth quarter proved costly, as the Broncos were up 28-23 and on the verge of field goal range, looking to go up two scores, or at least extend the game from a five-point to an eight-point lead. Nix now has three interceptions and a fumble on the season, but Sunday's performance was a step in the right direction for this Broncos offense.
Nix did a good job of spreading the ball around, finding 10 different Broncos receivers, mostly leaning on Troy Franklin, who hauled in eight of his 22 completions. Next up for Nix is a tougher matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, where he will remain a low-end QB1.
Matthew Golden, WR, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson praised rookie wide receivers Savion Williams and Matthew Golden this week, saying the pair of first-year players are "already putting really good stuff on film," according to The Athletic.
Watson, who is still rehabbing from another knee surgery, is eyeing a return later this season. For now, the Packers could use a helping hand while Watson and Jayden Reed (collarbone) are out, and Williams certainly could be one of the players who sees more work.
Williams drew two designed runs for 24 yards in Week 2 and has flashed as a kicker returner. For now, he's mostly a dynasty stash, but he could become a hot waiver-wire addition if he keeps earning more playing time.
