Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 3:
Brian Thomas Jr., WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville Jaguars second-year wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. (wrist) has not had the start that fantasy managers were hoping for after they spent a late-first or early second-round pick on him in drafts. His disappointing performance against the Bengals on Sunday saw him reel in four catches for 49 yards while making a bad drop near the goal line late in the game.
According to head coach Liam Coen, Thomas was dealing with a wrist injury heading into the game. Having gone through a week of practice without appearing on the injury report, it's difficult to say when the injury was sustained or how much of a factor it has played in his lackluster start to the season.
The Jaguars face the Texans in Week 3, and it will be worth monitoring Thomas' injury status throughout the week, but fantasy managers should continue to start him with better days presumably ahead.
Ashton Jeanty, RB, Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty had his second straight underwhelming performance for the Raiders on Monday Night Football against the Chargers. He was limited to 43 yards on 11 carries and one receiving yard on three catches. He didn't get into the end zone like he did in Week 1, leaving his fantasy managers wanting more from their early-round pick. Jeanty said after the game that he's "Just getting used to the speed, honestly."
When asked about Jeanty's workload, Coach Pete Carroll said, "We're just getting started. He's breaking into the NFL... He'll get more." Jeanty still has huge potential going forward, but he hasn't been able to break free for many big plays despite a few nice highlight-reel moments that flash his elusiveness and long-term upside.
If you invested in Jeanty, don't bail out yet, and he could even be an interesting buy-low candidate if you think he'll be able to adjust to the speed and be effective later in the season.
Zach Charbonnet, RB, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet (foot) is dealing with a foot injury and picked up a DNP tag at the first practice of the week on Wednesday, according to Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic.
It's not ideal for Charbonnet to miss the first practice of the week, but it's unclear if his injury is serious enough to sideline him in the Week 3 game this Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. The 24-year-old is going to continue to have an elevated role in 2025 as Seattle looks to keep the oft-injured Kenneth Walker III healthy, which makes him a flex option for fantasy managers every week.
Through two weeks, Charbonnet has 27 carries for 57 yards (2.1 yards per carry) and one touchdown. He hasn't had a single pass-game target. Walker would see a boost in workload this Sunday if Charb cannot play, while George Holani would be elevated to the RB2 role.
Kyren Williams, RB, Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams running back Kyren Williams could be headed for more of a timeshare with second-year running back Blake Corum, according to coach Sean McVay. McVay said that an ideal split would be about "a 65/35 ratio for those guys.
I think you want Kyren playing about two-thirds of the time, and Blake playing the other third." Williams played 80% of the team's snaps in Week 1 and 70% in Week 2 while Corum's workload increased. Williams had 66 yards and no touchdowns on 17 carries and added two catches for 14 yards, while Corum had five carries for 44 yards and a touchdown.
Williams still seems to be the clear option in passing situations, but Corum's role could cut into his role as the featured back if McVay sticks to this plan. This kind of timeshare split would be a big hit to Williams' value and make Corum a great grab off the waiver wire going into the team's big Week 3 matchup against the Eagles.
Drake London, WR, Atlanta Falcons
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London caught three of his four targets in Sunday's 22-6 win over the Vikings, totaling 49 yards receiving in the contest. With only four targets, it would seem he was not heavily involved, but no other pass catcher was targeted more than five times in a game where the team relied heavily on the run.
While London's position as the No. 1 option in the passing attack is not in question, his average depth of target thus far in 2025 is something to keep an eye on. The former first-round draft pick held a 10.8 aDOT (average depth of target) in 2024 and an even higher 12.67 aDOT in the final three games where Michael Penix Jr. was under center. However, through two games in 2025, he owns just a 6.94 aDOT and 9.5 yards per reception. If that trend holds, it could be a challenge for the 24-year-old to get back to the 1000-yard receiving threshold this year.
With a matchup against Carolina in Week 3, the Falcons may lean on the ground game again, which would again limit the upside of the receiving corps and, if shorter targets persist, put London further behind the eight ball.
